There were black spots (which looked like mold or stains) and a dead bug on the shelf below the sink. The shelf also looked dusty, so I did not use the towels stored there. I informed the front desk on the first night of my stay and requested that housekeeping clean the bathroom. I even texted them photos of the sink. However, the only thing that was done the next day was that the trash can was emptied. This was very disappointing. I think a 4 star hotel should be much better than this. Our stay at Hotel Zags Portland was genuinely wonderful, especially during a time when comfort and ease mattered most to us. The parking alone deserves a shoutout. It was fantastic and completely comped for us since we were in town for a medical procedure at OHSU, which removed a huge layer of stress right from the start. The room was absolutely adorable and perfectly suited to our needs. Everything felt thoughtful, cozy, and clean. The roll-in shower was a standout. It was spacious, spotless, and incredibly easy to use, which we truly appreciated. We also loved seeing the games and communal touches throughout the hotel. While this trip wasn’t exactly a “fun and games” kind of visit, it was nice knowing they were there. Hopefully next time we can enjoy that side of the hotel a bit more. The only area that fell short was breakfast. The options were very limited, drink choices were basically just milk and coffee, the hard-boiled eggs were unfortunately not great, and the toaster was jammed with old muffins for two days straight. It felt like an afterthought compared to how well everything else was handled. That said, the overall experience was warm, comfortable, and incredibly accommodating during a vulnerable time for us. Hotel Zags is a charming, well-located spot with a lot going for it, and we would absolutely consider staying again.

Clean, quiet, convenient location, good customer service, parking on the lower level was affordable. Bed was comfy. The pillows were marshmallows…not my favorite. The channel selection was kind of lame but who cares as we were not there to veg in the room.
