Fool me once

Front desk service was the best thing about this hotel. I checked in, got my room, and went upstairs. When I opened the door I was hit with a bad electrical “burnt” smell. Housekeeping had left the window wide open to try to get rid of the smell. There was no TV. The stove top in the kitchenette was missing a burner. I went in bathroom to wash my hands and the sink wouldn’t drain. I went downstairs to ask for a different room. The second room was better, there were TWO tvs, but the remote did not operate either one. The toilet seat was falling off the toilet. There are 4 other hotels within 1/4 mile radius, I will be picking one of them next time.

Telltale signs of unsafe property- surrounded by high security steel fence with broken locks & , inoperable gates & doors, abandoned damaged cars with broken windshields in hotel Parking area, room doors with reinforced steel plates that showed signs of tampering. Many signs on building warning of leaving items in car. Dirty room windows. . This was the only choice within 20 min.of airport- as all rooms were booked that day I opted to pay maximum price & add to my commute. The staff was helpful in to arranging a refund.

The room and property looked nothing like the photo. We walked in to the room and it stunk really bad. The dresser was obviously broken, the drawer was falling out. The office chair had lots of gross stains on it pushed up to a coffee table. The "queen" bed was the size of a double and it was placed on a box spring bigger than the mattress. The bathtub had chipping paint and had water damage to the wall. The ceiling had stains on it. The room felt dirty. We didn't feel comfortable staying. So we never even brought a bag into the room. We walked in, walked out & we turned in our keys & booked at a different hotel. The manager has since refused a refund of the nights we didn't stay. The positive was the front desk staff we encountered were very friendly.

The hotel itself isn’t bad for the price—very budget-friendly, so I didn’t expect much, but it was actually better than I thought. The room was spacious, fairly clean, and the bed was decent. The blanket was a bit old, but I brought my own blanket and pillow covers, so it wasn’t a problem. What really bothered me, though, was the type of guests the hotel seemed to allow. On my first night, some looked like they might be homeless or involved in shady activities—it reminded me of the kind of people you’d try to avoid in certain areas of Paris. It made me feel uneasy, and I had trouble sleeping that night. The second night was fine, though, so it seems hit or miss. I saw reviews mentioning this before but didn’t think it would be that noticeable. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for solo female travelers, especially if you’re safety-conscious.
