Overall, our stay was okay. The staff was very friendly, and the rooms were very clean. However, the food at the restaurants was not up to par. There were not many healthy options, and most dishes were very oily. The food quality was also disappointing. The restaurant reservation system also needs improvement. Reservations only open 24 hours in advance, and everyone tries to book at the same time through the app. It would be much better if reservations opened earlier, such as 48 hours before, or before arrival. As it is now, you have to stay up until midnight to book for the next day, or everything fills up quickly. Pool activities for kids could also be improved. There were some activities at night in the main area, but more daytime options for children would be nice. The $300 credit per room felt misleading. It is actually a coupon booklet that does not truly add up to $300 in usable value. The coupons are split into small amounts ($20–$35) and cannot be used all at once, which encourages you to spend more money after already paying a high price for the vacation. The A/C worked inconsistently, and coordinating with the front desk was often a hassle. We had to call multiple times to get simple requests handled. It also took three hours for our bags to be delivered to our room, and when we asked if we could pick them up ourselves, we were told to wait. For the price we paid, the service and experience were not worth it,I don' recommend.

Prior to leaving, i received an email to pick my room ( the cheapest was a 93$ upgrade) or i would be assigned whatever was available. Expedia did not explain that when booking. Upon arrival, wife and i were taken to 2 levels down to a different check in area. We were given " special " Expedia bracelets which we were told cost $150 if we lost them! We also received the regular resort bracelets. We were also told that we had to schedule our breakfast presentation which would only take 90 minutes. We declined and then i got text message from the sales rep at 751am the next morning and then a phone call to our room at 8. The hard sell for Expedia? The resort did not have enough chairs and they did not have enough security. The " Diamond " areas had plenty and there were plenty of cabanas that you could upgrade to. But not nearly enough chairs for the regular folks. People were smoking every where and the loud personal speakers on the beach made it unpleasant to relax and try to listen to the ocean. We are well traveled and we have experienced much. This wasnt the easy get away we hoped for.

Stay: Feb 5–9 | Room: Junior Suite Swim-Out Staff was friendly and respectful, and our room was cleaned daily. The swim-out pool was warm, which was great since we had a cold front during our stay. I strongly recommend renting a car at the airport, as it’s much cheaper than anything offered through the resort. Be aware of the “free breakfast/excursion” offers — they are actually Vacation Membership sales presentations. The pressure starts at the airport and can last for hours, and they will ask for credit cards before you sign anything, which was very uncomfortable. Food was average with little variety and no authentic Mexican options like tacos or guacamole. Our bathroom also flooded on the first day. Overall, while the staff was great, the aggressive sales tactics and food quality took away from the experience, and I would not go back.

Firstly, room we check In had blood on the bed sheet the bellboy who delivered the bag so hair all over and blood on bedsheet. He right away reported to the Guest service who took almost 3 hours to change the room. They literally wasted most of the day. Next at the time of check in a Guy name Rafael introduced us as Expedia Team Member took us to a separate lobby where he wanted us to not book from expedia going forward and he has better deals. Later on I got information that he works for " Prime Traveller Group", was basically lied to at the start. Then he keep forcing us to sign up for a breakfast sit down else you wont get any service because of expedia member. There were lot of group we meet there got FOOD poisoning and some of them were actually hospitalized as well. Overall be very careful for those FRAUD people from Prime Travel Group who waste your time and force you to not buy the package from Expedia next time and buy with them. I was astonished to understand how can expedia allow this to happen taking lot of client from them. Overall - Food -2 star, Service -1 star Shows - 3 star. I wont wanna waste my money again on Royalton Splash terrible experience. Last time in 2025 Feb the service was really great, this time it is super duper below par or I would waste of my money and time. Not going back to Royalton for sure. They force me to upgrade to diamond else not access to heated pool since it was really chilly for 2 days. They made there money by forcing us.

The resort is nice and grounds well maintained. They were clearly understaffed in most areas and appeared poorly managed. It took 2 hrs to check in (via Expedia office which was odd) and 1hr to check out due to their billing error. Our 4 rooms were not in the same area despite making the request 4 weeks prior to arrival. Most of our group (and many other guests) got sick from the flu. There are no sanitizer stations anywhere which would've mitigated the spread. The Expedia credit is very misleading and only applies to limited amenities and has a limit for each. It's essentially a coupon booklet!

We recently stayed at Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun with a group of 9 people (including 3 kids), and unfortunately our experience was very disappointing overall. The biggest issue was the food quality and illness. The buffet food was very poor and, during our stay, 7 out of 9 people in our group got sick, including all three kids. That alone really impacted our vacation. The à-la-carte restaurants were somewhat better than the buffet, but still not enough to make up for the overall food experience. The lines everywhere were extremely long. At the pool bars, we often waited a very long time just to get drinks. Getting snacks like burgers by the pool sometimes took close to an hour. The coffee shop also had long lineups every single day, which made grabbing a quick coffee frustrating. Another major downside was the pools were never heated. The water was freezing cold the entire stay, and because of that we only used the pool once. For a resort that’s supposed to be very family-friendly and water-focused, that was a big letdown. Be aware that the resort is very isolated. It’s basically in the middle of nowhere with only two other resorts nearby. If you want to leave the resort, your only real option is a taxi, and it costs about $80 USD each way for 2–4 people. We also had a poor experience with the Expedia representative at the resort. They were not helpful and we didn’t feel like we received any benefit at all from booking through Expedia. Overall, very bad experience!

The Royalton Splash was just great. The entire place is beautiful, clean, well maintained and has so many options for things to do, places to eat, you will never get bored. There are several very nice restaurants and also a buffet that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It has to be the largest buffet I have every been to. And it serves a huge variety of foods including typical American foods, as well as Mexican. The Royalton spa and fitness center are both outstanding, We used both and were not disappointed at all (try a couples massage followed by hydrotherapy). There are so many pools.....one area caters to families and another to those traveling without kids. Heres a tip...you must book reservations at the good restaurants 2 days in advance (that means be ready at 12:01 am to get a reservation). And "Diamond Club" members can book earlier than that so they get priority. If you book the stay through Expedia you get a few extra perks. My one complaint is that they only serve Dos Equis and Heineken beer. For a beer drinker that got old pretty fast. There are some good Mexican craft brewery's, you would think they might have a few of them to offer. All in all a nice trip.

Airport transportation was not included, and we had to pay $40 per person for transfer. The resort was also not truly all-inclusive as advertised—access to a large portion of the hotel required an extra fee for the Diamond Club, which made us feel excluded and not valued as guests. We traveled as three couples and one child, and room allocation was handled very poorly. One couple had paid for an ocean-view room but received a lower-class ocean view, while another couple who paid for no upgrade received a higher-class ocean-view room. The third couple was placed in a very low-level room. Overall, guests were not treated based on what they paid for. We repeatedly requested (over four times) to be placed closer together, but despite nine buildings, we were assigned extremely far apart (Buildings 2 and 9), requiring a 15-minute walk to see each other. The room in Building 12 (also referred to as Building 2) had a constant bad smell due to a creek behind the building. Food was often cold and overall not enjoyable. Most activities were focused on children, with very limited options for adults. The sea was full of seaweed and not pleasant for swimming. Water quality was a major issue—the water had a strong smell and salty taste, affecting all drinks and coffee. No bottled water was available in restaurants, making it difficult to drink anything unless brought from the room. A request for toothpaste was also never fulfilled.
