Please note this review is ONLY reviewing the owner/host. We had a medical emergency several days prior to our arrival, not allowing us to travel. We communicated with the host asking what the options were. The host explained we were in the non-refundable cancellation period and any exceptions would need to be made directly with VRBO. Upon contacting VRBO we were informed that only the host can make exceptions or adjustments. We started communicating with the host again asking if we found another family who could use our dates if he would work with us. He agreed. Once we found a family the host’s story changed and he added contingencies making it impossible. What we were suggesting would have benefited everyone. The host would not be out any money, we would have gotten a partial refund and the new family would have gotten a last minute deal. Unfortunately, the host chose the easy path to keep all of our money while the house sat empty. Very disappointing given the nature of our emergency, our repeated offers to provide documentation of the emergency, and offering a solution that would not have impacted his profitability. Sadly, the host would not even refund the cleaning fee despite the fact that nobody ever checked in. This could be a great property, we don’t know as we never got to visit. Our warning is to those who chose to book… get trip insurance as the host is NOT accommodating and will chose the easy button over common sense or helping others.
