Stayed here for 3 nights with family from the UK as we were visiting some family who live here. Room was dirty, sheets and towels were stained. Air con unit fell off the wall when I turned it on. One night we dined in the restaurant and it took 2 hours for us to get our food. We were served mutton instead of chicken and the very rude waiter insisted that we had ordered what was made, despite us not eating mutton. It turns out he had pressed the wrong button when submitting to the kitchen. The same waiter also refused to serve us drinks as “we didn’t want any earlier” when he had asked and were waiting for the rest of the party to turn up. When we did order, one glass of juice also took an hour to arrive.Asked to speak to the manager the next day and was told to wait in the reception for 35 minutes as he was “on his way shortly”. He did not turn up, and it turned out he was never contacted to be told we were waiting. One banana and apple were left in our room as an apology gesture. This was the first time we were seeing our family since covid and the G hotel utterly ruined the evening for all of us, we left hungry. My 1 year old nephew was also not served his food for 2 hours and was very distressed as it was 10pm so ruined the atmosphere for other guests. Overall experience was so poor we have had to find alternate accomodation for the rest of our stay in Penang. Hotel that has not put any effort into being of quality, hard to believe its rated one of the best in the area!!
