The hotel is very convenient to downtown Papeete and across the street from the cruise terminal. We stayed one night between our flight from US and early morning flight next day to Bora Bora.
We stayed again 2 weeks later after exiting our Paul Gauguin cruise before flying home.
It is just a few blocks walk to the Market.
This property is very close to market, cruise pier and ferry terminal. No need to take another taxi to those locations. Hotel room was not large but adequate for a short overnight stay.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. The water in the shower did not get warm.

Disliked: Room comfort
not the best experience
The elevator was incredibly slow.
The room was sparse and I had to unplug a light as there was no other outlet.
The initial key didn't work, so I had to take the elevator to get a new key.
Worst was that they charged my card a day before I arrived at the property (not my experience with Hotels.com reservations "pay at the property"). The credit card flagged it as fraud and not recognizing the charge, I agreed with the resulting hassle of having a new card issued
I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel was. I was checked in three hours early and was upgraded to a large suite. It was clean, convenient for getting off the cruise ship and the staff were very friendly and welcoming!
The location is very convenient for shopping and looking for places to eat. For cruisers so close to the port. Easy access to the market. There’s a bar outside the hotel that’s noisy from singing and drinking however it doesn’t bother us.
Nicely located, a few minutes walk from the cruise terminal, the market and shopping areas. Friendly and helpful stall, very clean and an excellent bed & lining. Super convenient for a short stay en route to the islands.
When we first arrived we were downgraded from our suite to a standard room due to technical difficulties/leak in the room. We were very upset as they seemed to assign the room in advance and rather than giving us another suite they downgraded. After speaking with the manager who seemed somewhat indifferent at first finally came around and compensated us the difference of what we had paid and what the standard room was at the time of booking. They rectified the situation in the end but not without hesitation. We were happy they tried to fix the situation more fairly.
The stylish Maitai Express Tahiti hotel is an excellent base for exploring the island and for catching the ferries to visit the other islands of French Polynesia. The room was comfortable and the staff friendly and efficient.
Nice property but very loud at night, there is a bar/club next to hotel and on weekends it stays busy and loud until after 2am. Everything else about the hotel is good and the staff is very friendly. Rooms are good with great air conditioning. If I stayed there again I would ask for a room on opposite side of building to eliminate loudness
This hotel was clean and quiet and had very nice staff. The location was amazing being so close to the ferry terminal and walking distance to the marche.
We arrived very late and they were up waiting for us . Easy check in and it was a comfortable room for 2 of us it would be tight with 4 which is what it says it sleeps maybe 3 people at most the sleeper sofa is just that a sleeper sofa so not really like a real mattress but after that long of a flight I fell right asleep as soon as I played down, so over all the room was great with that one exception that a fold out sleeper sofa isn’t really that great at any hotel… the linens were clean. They had a little coffee set up in the morning in the room has a nice shower. I think you can buy some sort of continental breakfast for US$35 we opted not to do that and as we were leaving the hotel, I think that was a good option to not do that.. the second you leave the hotel you were on a very busy street however, once you cross that very busy street you’re less than five minutes from the ferry terminal which took us to Moorea FP
Very nice hotel in the center of town with a friendly staff. The hotel is itself is very clean and updated. Bed was very hard though and the room was small. The area around the hotel is very run down and parking is difficult. For us it was perfect because the ferry terminal is across the street. For an extra $30 a day you can have secure parking a few blocks away but is very inconvenient.
Hotel was very clean and rooms are specious. Staff very friendly and professional. Good location especially for Ferry passengers. Cons: location comes with noise of traffic and city life :(. Overall it was ok for 1 night stay during transfer between islands.
