The resort is nice and back in action! This is our 2nd trip here in February. Both trips had to request a diffrent room because the heat would not work. For the price i feel this is something that should be addressed efore guest arrive.
Amenities were great especially traveling with kids. Only issue was had to ask multiple times to have a crib brought to the room. With that said the mattress and crib itself were great quality and my 2 year old slept no problem all week.

I'll preface this by saying that i had an incredible week and rhat Captiva is literal Paradise. My lodging however could use some work. The main office, gym facility, and retail establishments are excellent. Unfortunately my actual suite could use some work. While the facility was clean and had a spectacular view- the lodging was old and tired. Dirty elevators cheaply updated should have been a sign of things to come. Once inside the lodging I found cheap plastic flooring that flexed as you walked over uneven surface underneath. The walls were "updated" with textured wall covering the in areas was peeling. Baseboard looked as if a child did.the job. Poorly finished, improperly cut, and nailholes unfinished. Most things painted revraled many layers of old paint. Nights 1 and 2 were spent listening to the toilet by the bedroom run. Despite requesting it be remedied- it took speaking to the property manager on day 3 to get this accomplished. Ironically, the second toilet also broke and needed repair. Additionally- the water was only "warm" in the shower. Dining at the "resort" facilities is ridiculously expensive, so I ate better elsewhere for the same price. Lastly, there's no hospitality all week. You make your own bed, hang your towels, and if you want more- you drive to get them yourself.
They did not have my reservation when I arrive. The after I waited trough lunch, which I had to go out, I couldn’t eat at the hotel because I wasn’t a guest, I got the most awful room . I went to a restaurant after I got the room , to be insulted and mistreated by somebody I didn’t know, and all the bar made said” don’t worry he is like that. I’m a hotel Mgr in hotels all over the world….. what a dump!
Fantastic place for perfect relaxation, hammocks are placed perfectly for a tropical feel staff is outstanding customer service. A top of the cap to Jeff and Anthony at the front desk.

We stayed several days at a bayside building 1 BR unit not far from reception. Everything was new and it was well fit out for using the kitchen and generally well supplied in the baths. There were two full bathrooms and full sized applicances. A full sized mirror was one missing thing. The resort is still recovering from the hurricanes but is close to looking normal. When we were there they were activating the water park and working on landscaping around our building and pool. The village of Captiva is in walking distance. We walked in because parking is VERY limited, although paid parking is at the Marina. The general store and resaturants in town were pricey but fine. They are adding a berm dune to the beaches, so there was still construction there and the beached look stark, but they are fully useable where open.
Staff tried but not. Room was dated and sofa was stained. Balcony table was so wobbly it almost fell over. We were put in a bay view villa that had tons of construction and dirt. Had to bypass trucks and landscapers at every turn
Resort was empty so not sure why we were put there. Couldn't take towels from one pool to another. Made us empty our water before entering pool areas. Empty pickleball courts they wouldn't let us play on. Safe broke but was fixed had to ask for a bunch of things that should have been in the room already. Ac in bedroom was not working good so had to lower it to 64 for the bedroom to cool. On and on. Oh the $50 resort fee that never was mentioned either by expidia or resort on arrival. There is probably more but my wife isn't home to say her peace.
There was a juggle with our villa as it was not 100% clean. But staff immediately upgraded us to the next door villa without any issues. I’m sure just a ripple in the reopening process of the resort. Beach staff was on the ball. Top notch. We did not use the marina facilities. But the pools and beach were very nice. Be mindful there are rules and height restrictions on activities that in our experience other resorts in the area do not have. The pool staff and concessions were doing their best but probably needed more feet on the ground for that size resort. Menu seemed fairly limited and repetitive whether inside the restaurant our poolside. There is construction areas. But no noise or confusion to deal with. Overall this is a pricy resort. But we hope to return as they get it up to full function. Renting the golf cart was the best decision ever!
Beautiful beach with shelling, but expect changes if you go to this resort. The condo was clean at arrival, but some outlets and the hair dryer did not work. There is no towel service at this unit's pool. One must go hiking over a tall dune and large pipeline to get to the beach for towels. At the far end of the island, there is towel and bar service at a nicer pool. The drinks at that bar were inferior; pina colada had no pineapple flavor, but instead was just coconut cream with a strong cinnamon and strawberry taste. Food and service at the Red Fish was good, but pricey. It is best to go into town for food and drinks.
