Our room was themed to Gavin Maxwell and was well decorated. Nicole was a very pleasant hostess who explained everything well. The lounge downstairs was a useful retreat.

Worth a return stay.

Very interesting because the rooms are book themed in a book crazy town. Clean and comfortable with very friendly hosts. If you book the evening meal you will be treated to home cooked food of the highest standard.

Liked the vegetarian breakfast, as it was all bought especially for those not wanting/eating meat. The owners were very friendly and gave us some brownies as we left for the journey. We are looking forward to trying them later. Would recommend as handy for Wigtown and all the lovely bookshops. A very friendly and inviting place, and would go back when out that way again.

We stayed here for a night as we were in the area looking at a litter of pups. Our Satnav took us to the back of the property but a quick phone call to Nicole had us in the right place. She was waiting for us at the door which was lovely and went through all the Covid protocols in place which certainly reassured us. As the closest restaurant was closed that evening, Nicole set a table for us in the dining room to eat the tasty local fish and chips we brought back from the nearby village. There is also a sitting room to use with TV and books. We had a double room which had everything we could want. The bed was comfortable and we both slept well. Breakfast was fantastic. We preordered the night before and there was so many options. Definitely something for everyone including vegan brown sauce! Both Nicole and her husband made us feel very welcome. Ours was a last minute trip but we’ll definitely be back. The surrounding area is stunning and somewhere we are keen to explore.
