We hope you’re not afraid of the ocean, because this is an island, and islands are surrounded by water. See what it’s like to explore under the sea when you join a scuba expedition. The colourful coral reefs play home to fish species like crown-of-thorns starfish, high-finned dragonet and New Caledonian stingaree. Check with the hotel you got in your New Caledonia holiday package to see if they have deals on scuba.
When you feel like you’ve had enough of the underwater world, get back to dry land and look into lastminute.com.au’s awesome New Caledonia car hire options. Book one so you can make the 8-km drive from the capital city of Noumea to see the impressive hut pavilions of the Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Centre.
If you’re staying in the Noumea during your New Caledonia holiday, the Galerie Commerciale Port Plaisance is a great place to blow a stack of CFP francs. You can pick up high fashion pieces from the hottest French companies or locally made items from New Caledonian merchants. Your lady friends back home will love a new, brightly coloured sarong to wrap around themselves.
When you want to squash the hunger pangs, head over to the Noumea Morning Market, located at the marina at Port Moselle. Get your hands on some of the freshest produce in the area and then make your way through the fish market, where vendors sell everything from ahi tuna steaks to full lobsters. Looking for a more traditional sit-down restaurant experience? Many of the resorts in town offer great dining experiences with unbeatable ocean views.
Now, we know you’ve been wanting to know what the nightlife on this island is all about, so keep reading. The reception staff were incredibly helpful, especially Jeremy who greeted us by name every time we entered reception. The staff who provided the daily room service were friendly and did a fabulous job. Our three bedroom apartment on level 8 was spacious and had glorious views across the lagoon.

Only down side was the menu at the hotel and other eateries. I would love to see Polynesian and a French influence rather than trying for Asian American western food.

Only the manager spoke English but other staff pleasant. Room very comfortable and clean. Breakfasts very good but VERY expensive. Location is excellent and view from room superb. Elevator wasn't working so had to carry bags up to third floor but exercise did us good. Would highly recommend this ...

A little tired and out dated but ok. Glad we were able to upgrade as facilities were minimal and very basic.l would encourage staff to be more aware of food allergies and to be better able to discuss alternatives with guests.

Helpful Staff. Property dated in need of renovation. Large rooms. Fair walk to beach. OK for the price.
