Summer alternative to the town of Crested Butte

We would rather stay in the town but if not possible this is a good alternative. It is often cheaper than the town. It is easier to get to trails and if you are biking it is the area to stay in. The one downside is that there are no restaurants in the area and you have to drive into town and try to find a parking place, which is difficult to do.
