Beautiful 8 bedroom Charentaise farmhouse in peaceful rural location

Built in 1897, Le Petit Sorin is a beautiful Charentaise farmhouse set in two acres of gardens. Located in the heart of the Charente-Maritime region of south-west France, the farmhouse presents self-catering accommodation for up to 15 guests in peaceful, rural surroundings.

The farmhouse has two fully equipped kitchens and dining areas, two sitting rooms, 6 double bedrooms and 2 twin bedrooms. Four of the bedrooms have an en-suite shower room with WC and in addition there is a bathroom on the ground floor with a bath, WC and separate shower. All bed linen, bath and hand towels are provided as well as travel cots and high chairs for babies.

Outside there is a private pool with surrounding terrace and sunbeds. There is a covered terrace at the front of the house with BBQ and a shady terrace to the rear of the house, both ideal for long lunches in the sunshine and lazy dinners into the evening. The large gardens at the front of the farmhouse are mainly laid to lawn proving a great space for games or for just finding a lazy spot in the shade to chill out.

Nearby are the pretty communes of Leoville (5 mins drive) which has a great epicerie and outdoor restaurant, Baignes (7-8 mins drive) which has two boulangeries, bar, restaurant, pharmacy, post office, Intermarche and petrol station. Further afield is the beautiful town of Jonzac (10 mins drive) with its stunning Chateaux and a great selection of restaurants, bars, weekly markets, thermal springs and Les Antilles a great indoor swimming pool complex.

Within a short drive of the farmhouse are several beach lakes, great for swimming and sunbathing and many with aquatic activities and play areas for children. The fantastic Atlantic coast beaches of Royan and La Palmyre are within 1 hour 15 mins drive.

The farmhouse is within easy reach of both Bordeaux (approx. 1 hour drive) and La Rochelle (1 hour 30 mins)

Gorgeous house in the middle of French countryside

The house is just stunning, so well put together with everything and more you would need on holiday. We spent a week here with friends and 5 young children, house felt safe for them with stairgates and a pool fence. Lots of grass for them to run around on too. Owners are really helpful with local knowledge and we can’t wait to come back!

Fabulous property

Fabulous and friendly

We had a wonderful stay. There were 17 of us aged between 1 and 72 and the property worked perfectly for us. Emily and Andy were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The facilities are just as you see on the photos with plenty of space and a lovely pool complete with sun loungers for everyone. What a fabulous property Le Petit Sorin is! Emily and Andy have created the perfect holiday house. It is beautifully appointed with everything you could need or want including pool, swings for the children and a large field with football goals. We rented the property as a family, a party of 18 aged between 6 months to 75. Nothing was too much trouble, Emily and Andy recommended activities in the local area and even arranged a chef for us so we could celebrate my sister’s 40th birthday during our stay. We would definitely stay again!

Just back from the most incredible week at Le Petit Sorin in Mortiers France with the wonderful hosts Emily and Andy. I couldn't have been happier or more impressed with this beautiful home and the hospitality and genuine 'here to help' attitude of Emily and Andy. From first communication to waving good bye at the end of the week nothing was too much trouble. Pre-visit I was in touch with Emily with questions about what to do in the area, she came back promptly with ideas, distances, costs and links on how to contact and book. this included towns to visit, places to eat, local businesses such as a fabulous yoga and spa retreat just 10 mins away. A congac vineyard, just 10 mins away where we had a private tour and tasting, Contact details for us us to book local restaurants in near by Jonzac and Leoville and even a contact to book a hot air balloon for our special occasion. They gave us directions to a local supermarket where we were able to get everything we needed for our evenings in on the terrace by the pool and directions to a cafe for morning coffee opposite a quaint little Boulangerie for wonderful french bread, delicious pastries and the most marvelous fresh macaroons. Just heavenly.. The details of the Gite shown on the site are accurate and it is as lovely as it looks, I would definitely class this home as Luxury Accommodation and the attention to detail and the simple little touches are just lovely. All of the bedrooms were beautifully decorated, most with en-suite bathrooms. 2 large and fully equipped kitchens made self catering a breeze. We almost forgot Emily and Andy were there as they were so discreet and gave us privacy at all times, It was great to know they were just next door if we needed anything, keeping themselves to them selves and always with a friendly smile. Cleanliness 5*'s, Style 5*s,comfort 5*s, friendliness 5*s, location 5*s, Surrounding area 5*s having to leave at the end of the week... absolute pants! Thank you Emily and Andy we all had an amazing time and will see you again at Le Petit Sorin.

Incredible experience

We stayed at Le Petit Sorin for a long weekend. The house is fab and set in peaceful rural location but within easy access of local shops and supermarkets. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the house was spotlessly clean and perfectly equipped. The bedrooms are spacious and the 2 large kitchens worked really well for us. The grounds are beautifully kept and the terraces perfect for outdoor dining. We have booked again to return later in the year. Thank you to Andy and Emily who were wonderful hosts.

We hadden een fantastische vakantie (8 volwassenen en 7 kinderen). Emily en Andy zijn zeer vriendelijk, zeer discreet en zeer hulpvaardig. We voelden ons op ons gemak. Très beau séjour à Mortiers ( 17)

Emily et Andy vous accueille simplement et vous mettent à l'aise. Ils sont disponibles et prêts à vous rendre service. Le wk de notre location , il ne faisait pas très chaud, ils nous ont apportés du bois pour faire du feu dans le poêle. La maison de caractère est très belle, spacieuse, joliment décorée et pratique avec ses deux cuisines, et ses deux salons. Nous étions 14 personnes et chaque famille a apprécié la facilité d'organisation avec des chambres bien équipées, spacieuses, et disposant de salle de bains et de toilette privé. Le jardin, la piscine avec la tonnelle et son barbecue autour de la piscine sont pratiques, très agréables, très jolis, et très bien entretenus. Nous avons bien profité de tous ces espaces et de notre séjour dans cette jolie région. Dans l'ensemble tout le monde a été très satisfait. merci Emily et Andy pour votre accueil et votre discrétion. La Belle Vie at the Petit Sorin!

Spent a week (8 adults - 4 couples, 5 kids - aged 2-6) at the Petit Sorin in Mortiers. The house is beautiful, and very much adapted to several families together. Could not have asked for any better. The area is very much the French countryside, with small provincial markets being held in the surrounding villages. Quiet roads. Very 'French'. Thanks to the owners for making our stay a great one.

Une maison magnifique

Nous étions un groupe de 11 personnes, de 4 mois à 90 ans. Nous avons passé un très agréable week-end dans celle belle demeure ancienne merveilleusement restaurée. C'était pourtant la canicule (+40) et à l'interieur nous étions bien au frais, grace à l'épaisseur des murs. Il y a de nombreuses salles de bains et WC, deux cuisines, dont une immense, un grand barbecue à gaz, deux terrasses, un parc, la piscine, c'est encore mieux que sur les photos. La propriétaire est discrète mais présente si besoin. Je recommande à 200%.

Tout simplement parfait !

Très agréable séjour dans un endroit très calme.

Propriété très agréable, aménagée avec beaucoup de gout. Les propriétaires habitent sur place (logement attenant à la ferme mais entrée indépendante) . Emily et Andy sont très sympathiques et très discrets mais toujours présents pour régler le moindre souci et pour veiller à l'entretien de la piscine. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié le calme et la possibilité de randonner dans la campagne Charentaise (randos balisées obtenues au syndicat d'initiative de Jonzac).

Best holiday home on Vrbo so far

Our stay in this house near Mortiers was fantastic. We stayed here with six adults and six children, but we had some bedrooms and bathrooms to spare. The house was very clean, more than fully equiped, with a.o. a great pool, huge garden, two kitchens, bbq (gas). The owners, Andy and Emily, who live next door, are very kind and made us feel more than welcome. They made sure everything was to our satisfaction during our week there. We have had several holidays on vrbo listed houses, but this was by far the best. A place to come back to!

Superbe séjour!

Superbe maison avec beaucoup d’espace. Nous sommes partis à 3 familles dont 5 enfants et 2 bébés et la maison était tout à fait adaptée, avec 2 cuisines et de nombreuses salles de bain. Nous avons pu profiter d’espaces extérieurs très agréables (Dont 2 terrasses). Un grand Merci à Emily et Andy (les propriétaires) pour leur accueil et leur gentillesse!

Séjour entre amis avec enfants, la propriété est très belle et très bien adaptée à un grand nombre de personnes. Les propriétaires sont au petit soin des qu’il le faut sans pour autant être trop présent. Je recommande vivement.

Nous avons l’habitude de louer des maisons pour environ 15 personnes et celle ci nous a complètement convaincu ! Les propriétaires sont très discrets les équipements sont parfaits et correspondent à l’annonce et aux photos. On auraient aimé une machine à expresso :) Merci pour ce séjour réussi !
