Fraudulent host causing extra cost

The number contact telephone number given on website was wrong, so I could not contact the host to facilitate check in. So I could not stay in the property and had to book another accommodation at a higher cost. I think host is fraudulent, because hotels.com could contact the host and even knew the hosts name. but upon contacting the host, he claimed that the number was wrong and that he had nothing to do with the booking.
