What a gem! It's a charming, historic property. Rooms are comfortable and quiet and staff is friendly and responsive. We were so happy to have found this hotel, even for just one night. We wish we could come back to St. Paul if just to stay there again.
Beautiful building. Incredible history as a convent and music conservatory. Big, clean rooms. Walking distance to the X and anything downtown. Easy to get to and easy to get back on 94.
We stayed on the Cedar Ave side, near the train. If you are a lite sleeper, request the other side of the hotel. The rooms are all different and very cool. We enjoyed the bar area and lobby. Checking in was great. All the staff was nice.
We had breakfast before leaving. We stayed for a MN Wild game at Xcel Energy Center. Plenty of places to walk to.
We really enjoyed our two night stay! Staff were friendly and courteous - lack of private parking can be a concern but ample street. Beautiful views and amazing historic building.
I loved the architecture and old, historic charm of the hotel and the room. The hotel was a previous convent and while some of the photos and paintings were beautiful, some were quite "creepy" and distasteful. The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was average with not a lot of choices.
I loved this hotel! We got there Friday afternoon and received a free upgrade to our room! The area had great walking access to downtown and many other things. We loved the grocery store with the coffee shop in it just a few blocks away. Super easy to get to the excel center for the hockey game too! My only complaint was the bartender Friday night: we saw the promo if you showed your wild tickets you got a free drink. I showed the one and she didn’t know about it and the other bartender said “yeah we don’t usually tell people about it that though, it’s not really public.” He seemed annoyed that we used it to pay for our drinks.
Other than that everything was great! Great breakfast, I felt safe going outside by myself at night, all in all a great stay!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Really liked how the property had a vintage vibe to it. What I didn’t like was the parking. Had to park in a public ramp and pay $18 for one night stay
The staff was very friendly when checking in and out. We were down there for Homeless Day on the Hill and the convenience of the location was terrific!
The Celeste is a treasure — full of interesting curios and antiques. Excellent breakfast in a converted chapel with 20’ ceilings and huge stained glass windows.
I did not feel that we received value for the booking. Price wise it was comparable to other hotels in the arena but lacked the expected amenities, customer service and overall good night sleep I would have expected for what we paid.
Very nice and relaxing. Was in a top floor room so vaulted ceilings and terrace window/door that opened and was a nice surprise. The only disappointment was the ‘fire place’ was in the entryway and not viewable from the bedroom area, so kind of pointless to have that as an advertised upgrade. Breakfast was mediocre.
Cool place to stay. Accessible via an ADA side entrance. Really pretty with original woodwork. Very modern bathrooms. Small sink space, but it's fine. Easy access to get wherever you need to be in St. Paul. My room was right next to the rail, so got a little loud, but I got used to it. Easy parking in ramp next door. Good breakfast included in price in a former chapel with lots of light and stained glass. I would absolutely stay here again. Probably wouldn't stay with small children. Great spot for business trips, singles, couples.
