We’ve stayed her before and had a great experience a few years back, so decided to stay again with our kids. We travelled 7 hours from Canberra and had an event the evening of arrival so I confirmed a couple of weeks out that the check-in time was 2pm so we could prepare ourselves for the night ahead. We arrived close to 3pm and our rooms weren’t ready, we were told to go to the restaurant and sit for 15 minutes and then we would be able to check-in. I expressed that we had planned the timing so that our kids could nap after a long drive and we could refresh for our event. I didn’t even receive a mere “we’re sorry for the inconvenience”, just to go buy a drink at the onsite restaurant/bar. After the 15 minutes I went back to the lobby and was told only one of our rooms was ready and they would come let me know when the adjoining room was done. By the time we got the key for the second room we then had to wait for another staff member to unlock the adjoining doors which took another 30 minutes. I understand things don’t always go as planned but the fact that I had checked the time we could check-in combined with the lack of apologies for inconvenience really reflected the poor customer service. When we checked out 2 days later we weren’t even asked how our stay was. Maybe I’m old school but the customer service experience (or lack there of) will see us never return to Oaks. Waiting 2+hours for check-in without notice is ridiculous especially when no compensation is offered.

Property was booked for its location and met expectations. Book in was from 2pm, we arrived at 2.05 BUT our room was not ready. We had a person with a disability with us but were left standing in the foyer for 45 minutes. There was nowhere to sit while waiting, and nowhere was offered. Reception staff were friendly and apologetic, bit the situation was unacceptable.

Terrible experience trying to park at this hotel despite being assured multiple times prior to booking and arriving that parking wouldn’t be an issue. Turns out it was a significant hassle and I had to find a public carpark for the first day and a half - the staff weren’t very helpful and I was told a different thing by every staff member I spoke to which was very frustrating.

It is a great location. The aircon unit was erratic and made squeaky noises that woke me up. While it was clean overall, it feels dated.

We stayed on the 2nd floor, there was some form of mechanical like noise coming from the floor above at random times through out the night, loud enough to wake you from your sleep. When the AC was used for heating, the fan was so loud you were unable to have it on as this also would keep you awake. This was not a rested sleep we hoped to have before our hospital stay.
