I made this reservation 6-8mos ago, The front desk begrudgingly offered me a room with a view of the garden and was told to return at 4pm. When I returned I had to explain the change to the next front office person after she attempted to give me the parking lot view room. My feeling is, I was deprioritized by the fact that there was a big convention arriving the day after I did. The largest issue was that the Ashland Hills Hotel and Suite was my place of choice mostly based on the great breakfast spread that had. They no longer offer that and offer their guests to buy a breakfast at the Luna cafe. I paid the cost of the rooms at over $200.00 a night. Not worth it. I will not return. There are many places in Ashland for me to stay that are more accommodating.

The room smelled very stale and the bathroom smelled terrible. It wasn’t a dirty smell, more nasty disinfectant. The property has texts set up to ask how things are upon arrival. I rated it a 6. The don’t clean your room each day, it’s every 3rd day unless you request it. No one told us we needed to request it. So we ended up with a messy room the second day to our surprise after being out all day. Also the staff at the front desk were not very friendly. As we were checking out in the morning I said bye to the lady at the front desk and she completely ignored me. Maybe she didn’t hear me but I was thrown off a bit by it.

Very noisy. We had to unplug the refrigerator because the noise it was making. Bathroom and furniture looked old and not very clean. The toilet was the loudest I have ever heard! I am not even sure how it’s even possible for a toilet to make that much noise. Overall it was not what we expected from Best Western. We could have stayed at Motel 6 for better quality at a lower price.

We had a suite, with a "kitchen" with absolutely nothing in it -- no glasses, cutlery, utensils, etc.; nothing but a couple of plastic cups. Grudgingly, some unfriendly staff gave us a couple of things so that we could have a glass of wine and a cut up apple. Staff were generally unfriendly and not accommodating. For instance, we asked if we could check out one hour later; we were told the suite was free the next day so that we could -- for a fee! Finally, this hotel says it is a "resort" -- but, for instance, the "fitness suite" consists of a handful of cardio machines, one machine for muscular workouts, and some hand weights, in a dark and unattractive room. Finally, the hotel implies that it is in the hills, obviously. Instead, it is on the flats, literally a hundred yards from the freeway. For $300/night, we expected much much better. The positive reviews are incomprehensible.

Pros: Friendly staff, large rooms, plentiful parking Cons: Bordered by I5 and a highway, poor water pressure, room deadbolt non functional, slow check-in process, no option for daily housekeeping Asked for a quiet room and was placed in a room facing the highway. The window didn’t open but was old and let in a significant amount of road noise. Note that not all rooms have balconies. Would not stay here again.
