About this property

Beautiful ocean-front home, wooded seclusion, private beach on Maine Bold Coast

All the beauty of Acadia in your own wooded corner of Maine’s Bold Coast, this property is truly medicine for the mind. Acres of forest carpeted by soft moss surround the home and a crystal clear brook meanders through on its way to a small waterfall on the small cliff at the beach. The walkable beach is covered with small smooth pebbles which makes an amazing pop-rock sound as the waves crash and retreat, exactly the same as the nearby Jasper Beach. Large bold pink granite veins are also part of the beach landscape and they stand defiant against the waves of the Atlantic.

The views of the islands and open ocean from all 3 levels of the home are truly breathtaking. Enough beds to sleep 6 adults comfortably, and with 2 bathrooms, this classic coastal Maine home features a spiral staircase, wall to wall windows on the first floor living space providing panoramic views of the water, and refinished original hardwood floors from when the cottage was built in 1905. There is a one of a kind bench available for guest use that provides a prime spot to chill by the sea and recharge. Guests can explore the trail through the woods that leads to an observation deck with two rocking chairs. The serene spot is next to a small water fall and overlooks the bold rocky coastline.

The property provides easy access to the beach via a gently sloping trail. The ocean in front of the property is surprisingly calm many days, especially mornings, and you can often see kayakers and paddle boarders making their way to Jasper Beach, which is just up the coast a bit from the cottage. The cliffs, canyons and caves between the cottage and Jasper Beach are truly phenomenal when viewed from the water or explored on foot. Guests must supply their own water sports equipment, which can be rented from outfitters in nearby Machias.

There is a king bed in the spacious upstairs lighthouse theme bedroom, a full bed in the second upstairs moose theme bedroom, a twin bed and two built-in bunk beds in the first floor blueberry theme bedroom, a queen size bed in the newly finished lobster theme bedroom in the walkout basement. The top bunk in the bunk room is available for luggage storage and the bunks have a weight limit of 180 pounds.

The home is heated by a combination of propane, electric baseboard and a mini-split heat pump with air conditioning as well. The best air conditioning however is most always the windows and there are window fans available for guest use in all rooms except the bathrooms.

There is an antique desk in the lighthouse bedroom with a monitor that can serve as an office space if necessary. There is also an antique desk and office chair in the basement bedroom and a fold down desk in the second upstairs bedroom each offering work spaces as well. The kitchen has a new dishwasher, full size refrigerator, gas oven and five burner cook top with built in griddle, microwave, and a custom built antique coffee cart with combination Keurig and drip coffee maker. The kitchen also has a blender, salad spinner, lobster pot, lobster and oyster shucking tools, and a toaster.

A few modern amenities include high speed satellite internet, high speed level 2 EV charger, and a 55 inch flat screen television in the main floor family room. There is also a second family room in the walkout basement with a smart TV on the wall. The universal EV charger has a J1772 adapter (and native NACS adapter) available for guest use.

We welcome your family pet to join you on your Maine vacation. Please note there is a pet fee of $175 with a maximum of 2 pets allowed. Pets need to remain on the 1st level (main floor) only using the supplied baby gates.
Make yourself comfortable in this air-conditioned vacation home, featuring a kitchen with a refrigerator and an oven. There's a private patio. Complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected, and a Smart television is provided for your entertainment. Conveniences include a desk and a microwave.
This smoke-free vacation home features books, games, and ecotours nearby. Amenities and recreational activities include a music library, sledding nearby, and cave exploring nearby.

Beautiful home with the most amazing beach. This is our second year going to SeaClusion. So many improvements and the most comfortable home. This year my daughter brought her two pups. Our two granddaughters still consider the beach, The Best Playground Ever!

This was my family's second time staying here and it was just as wonderful as the first time. The house was very clean (that is extremely important to me!), it was well-equipped with absolutely everything we needed to enjoy our 10-day stay, and honestly - there isn't a thing we would change about it other than wishing we could have stayed much longer! We hope to return again and again!

Memories made in Maine!

Our stay at Seaclusion was perfect from the moment we walked through the door. We spent our 20 yr Anniversary here. The house was so welcoming stocked with everything we needed and the decor so beautiful. Every adventure was led by the tide. We enjoyed day trips visiting Rogue Bluffs, Lubec, Eastport, Jasper Beach The town of Machias , Helen’s Restaurant (the Blueberry pie was out of this world ), the General Store. The reverse water falls, West Quoddy light house and hiked the park. All within a short scenic drive. We spent time exploring the properties beaches and woods. Relaxing in the evening, making dinner and playing board games. The views from the house windows were stunning and ever changing. Thank you so much for making our stay so memorable. Bryan and Melissa

Magical

This property is very beautiful. Seaclusion is exactly what I was looking for. Brought our daughter and two grandchildren and the older, at 7-years, announced that the beach was “the best playground ever!” We never needed to leave the house except for food. It was so very relaxing and the beach so entertaining. We spend hours each day looking for special rocks and sea glass. We went to Jasper beach and to other beaches but the whole family decided we had the BEST beach of all. The hosts were very reponsive and even sent us a science project about the rock formations on the beach. The house was comfortable and cozy. Best surprise was finding a new half bath downstairs! My husband and I had the downstairs double bed and a bathroom to ourselves. There are lots of games to enjoy and puzzles to make. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything we needed. I would suggest buying water for drinking and coffee. If you see that as a drawback then that is the only one! We usually purchase drinking water when we stay at beach properties. There is a gas grill with a side pruner for cooking lobsters. We also enjoyed walking the nearby trails. We walked everyday right from the front door. No need to drive. We will definitely stay again and plan on renting this home and the one just up the road so more family members can enjoy this special place with us.

Stunning View

The location of this property is truly ideal. The house is secluded and tucked away in the pine trees with an amazing view of the ocean. You feel secluded, but you are very close to all the amenities of the cute town of Machias. The house is equipped with everything you would ever need. It is very cozy and the property owners are very attentive. The hardest thing about our trip was leaving. We can’t wait to return!

Beautiful Shoreline and generous Hosts

I've been working seasonaly in Maine for 10 years, after after having stayed in many homes in the Machias area, this place was easily the best. To began, the home itself is beautiful with it's coastal charm and a very unique spiral staircase that connects the three floors in the center of the house. It has windows on all three floors that look out over the bay and I spent many mornings sitting on the couch watching the sun rise over the Atlantic. The kitchen is somewhat small but well equipped. No need to bring your own staples like oil or spices and the owner even provided some coffee. As beautiful as the home is it's the location that makes the magic. It's located off the beaten path down a narrow nondescript driveway right on the water. The beach is a mix of pebbles and then large jagged rock formations that jut out of the beach and water alike, where they harbor tide pools. Beauty of it rivals anywhere else I've been in Down East Maine and even Acadia. If you continue north up the beach at low tide you can even find a remarkable cave that has two openings and makes a passage way through a large rock. And finally the owners. Brian and Melanie were very personal hosts, they checked in with us often and were quick to respond to any question or issue. After our job was shortened without warning, they let us checkout early and refunded us the difference so we didn't have to eat the cost. The next time we are back we will stay here again and I hope you will too.

Peaceful and Relaxing

We had a wonderful time during our stay. The house and property are everything as described and more. We enjoyed the easy access to put in kayaks and explore the surrounding area. We spent many hours just sitting on the property taking in the views of the ocean and the lobster boats out for their daily catch. Also provided a nice central location to explore and hike the surrounding areas of Roque Bluffs state park and Machias. Highly recommend!

Beautiful and clean oceanfront cottage

We had a wonderful stay at Seaclusion with our 3 children aged from 6 to 11 and our dog. The property is on a peaceful, secluded private drive and right on a rocky beach. Our kids loved exploring the rocks and tide pools and we had a few very nice kayak outings on the cove on which the property is located. The house is very clean and nicely decorated with great views of the ocean. The bedrooms were perfect for our family and the younger kids enjoyed the bunk room. The kitchen was well equipped and nicely laid out for cooking. We really enjoyed relaxing at the house and exploring nearby. It’s a great location and property to spend a lot of time at the house without needing to go far to feel like you’re making the most of your stay.

Cute cottage by the sea

The shoreline here is really beautiful, with rugged rocks and boulders and sea cliffs. The views from the cottage are lovely. The kitchen is well stocked. A very nice coffee pot! Views from the main bedroom are great. Cottage is rounded by beautiful evergreens and there is a set of rocking chairs where you can enjoy the view. A walk down the shore brings you to caves in one direction and a rocky beach in the other direction. Machias is a great town with a terrific brewpub and Helen’s for pie!

Great property, great hosts.

Perfect spot for our 4 night getaway, love how quiet the Machiasport area is. House is cozy and unique (in a good way🙂). We had an issue during our stay that Brian couldn't have handled any better, he really went above and beyond! This is a great property steps away from the rocky coast of Maine, a true oasis to get away for a while.

Beautiful stay

The property was even more amazing than it looks in the photos. The driveway in weaves through a mossy forest and opens up to a beautiful ocean view. Once inside, the home is exactly as pictured in the photos, beautifully updated and fitted with all the spices and cooking essentialls necessary for your stay. The view is ever changing as the tides are significant here, the shore going from a quintessential Maine rocky coastline to an expansive rocky beach walkable to an impressive cave. Brian and Melanie were super helfpul in making suggestions in advance and checking in during our stay. Would absolutely recommend staying here, excellent all around.

Charming Cottage, Beautiful Setting

Charming cottage, beautiful setting. Well equipped and stocked with necessities. Nicely decorated with comfortable furnishings and beds. We loved exploring the beach bordering the property. This property is secluded, which we enjoyed. Had some concerns beforehand about 1 bathroom (for 6 adults) and the spiral staircase (with small dog, we used a baby gate to keep her on the first floor). Both ended up being fine. Totally worth it for the location and view. Only drawback, which can’t be helped, is the mosquitos, so be prepared in the warmer months with proper clothing and repellent. Day trips to Jasper Beach, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, Long Point Preserve, Campobello Island in New Brunswick, Canada were all fantastic.

From the moment we pulled up and saw the house and the view we knew we were going to have a fantastic time. The house was beautiful from the statement staircase to the lovely kitchen. The rooms were comfortable and clean. We felt right at home. We were looking for quality family time in a peaceful setting and thats exactly what we got. Brian was communicative and helpful. Lovely!

Our stay here was enjoyable in every aspect. The house was very clean, the communication with the host was clear and pleasant, and the location was beautiful. Our family of five (parents with three children ages 12-17) was very comfortable during our stay, and we enjoyed every single minute there! We are a family who enjoys simple things such as spending time oceanside, hiking on nearby trails, and sometimes just reading - all of which we did while staying here. We are thankful that Brian and Melanie have opted to share their most beautiful house through VRBO with others who appreciate this special place. We would certainly look forward to staying there again!
