We booked a King Suite for a week's stay at the Southgate. Upon our arrival we were met in a friendly, welcoming manner. The room was supposed to have a king size bed but it was a double bed. The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. There was an issue with the window locks and, despite my two separate requests it was mever rwsolved. This could be down to a language barrier, however. You are invited to contact Reception through a WhatsApp message and you are given the number upon arrival.
The chairs in the room are exceptionally comfortable amd the TV is large too. The bathroom included an overhead shower and the regular fitting too. The button controlling the shower was temperamental and we struggled to actually turn the shower off at times.
When the room was cleaned in the day, it was immaculately made up. However, we were not replenished with toilet roll at all during our stay either.
The blackout curtains really work well and that helped sleeping too. It can be a little noisy outaide the front of the hotel and we had a room on the front. Because of the window issue (which we could not shut), it meant the noise carried from outside. There are a few cafes near to the hotel and some of these stay open quite late too. This attributed to the noise.
Overall the hotel is in an excellent position to commute to central London (2 min walk and 25 mins tube journey). There were some small issues with our room and they were poorly dealt with. We would stay again.
