The cleanliness of the property was less than we expected. It was not dirty, just some areas of the house were overlooked. Prior to leaving Canada, I required Vrbo to make contact with the host in order to obtain any information we needed upon our arrival. The location was pretty much as described. Only half of the house was what you'd describe as "comfortable" When we asked the host about water damage (because our original property booking had been cancelled by it's host for that issue since Portugal had suffered significant rain for several weeks), we were told there was none and the bad weather had been situated to the north of the property. The Master bedroom was unusable because of water damage which left all the bed linens - even the mattress -WET. The main bathroom on the upper floor had 1/4 of an inch of water on the floor which we mopped three times and then gave up an never used it. The downstairs fireplace was totally rusted out at the bottom and again had a significant amount of water on the raised hearth. Again, we mopped it up numerous times before the flooding appeared to quit. I took almost 3 days to dry out the TV remove due to leaked water. There were no instructions for the use of the TV, Internet etc. No instructions for garbage or recycling. There were no safety features in any of the bathrooms - no rails, no non-slip bath mat or tub stickers. For a home that was very beautifully updated, the condition left much to be desired.
