If you're looking for a relaxing stay where you can slow down, unplug, and enjoy nature - this is the spot to be!My friend and I traveled to Harvest Village Farm for an extended Labor Day weekend girls' trip! We had three priorities for our trip, and this location gave us the ability to achieve all our goals! 1) We needed to be close to Cadillac, MI for a running event we were participating in -- the property was just 20 minutes down the road from Cadillac & easy peasy highway driving.2) We wanted to explore Michigan -- the property was an excellent home location to take day trips out to the coast only 45min to 1.5 hrs away. 3) We wanted to just relax, get away from work, and enjoy the countryside -- the farm setting was entirely idyllic and you can even participate in farm tours each day of your stay. The property is exactly as described, and the hosts (Arlene and Dan) are EXCELLENT. Breakfast every morning was as fresh as could be - eggs and pork raised on the farm, and Amish bread from down the street. We loved doing the farm walks each evening, and enjoying the beauty of the countryside with a fire. The setting is certainly rustic, but that's exactly what you want for a Barn-cation! Cadillac is an easy drive away for coffee shops, farmer's and maker's markets, breweries and restaurants, and local shops! If you want to make day trips to Lake Michigan and Sleeping Bear Dunes, it's highly doable to set-out from here as a base. Will 100% definitely be back again!

This property was more “rustic” than advertised. The owners were very nice but I would recommend adding updated photos.

lovely rustic getaway

Lovely basic cabin on a working farm. The hosts were very welcoming and brought us a delicious cooked breakfast. It's quite rustic, so a fair amount of bugs and spiders around inside the cabin and the room is very light (my kids can't sleep when it's too light out). There's a nice little playground area and we got to see the farm animals, including two highland cows, which the kids loved.

Thoughtful Hosts, Delicious Breakfasts

We had such a wonderful stay at Harvest Village! The hospitality was truly above and beyond - the owners were so kind and welcoming, and it made the whole experience feel extra special. The property was peaceful and family-friendly, and our 2-year-old loved the newly added playset. The breakfasts were amazing - homemade, fresh, and delicious every single morning. We also picked up some of their farm-raised pork and eggs before we left. Highly recommend staying here - we’re already looking forward to coming back!

Peace and feast

My husband and I had such a great stay at Harvest Village B&B! May 2025. First impression…lush green hills, trees, and fence-lined pasture areas. Nice firepit and outdoor patio/seating. Plenty of chickens, sheep up on the hill and baby lambs and mama in the barn. So sweet!!The room had a large main living area, quaint and bright, with a nice table and chairs for the terrific breakfasts brought each morning by Arlene (what a cook!) & Dan. These are two of the dearest people around, no doubt! We enjoyed our time with them and they were very attentive to whatever we needed. You could say it’s a bit rustic but we had all that we needed. A nice faux cast iron stove kept us warm and gave a nice ambiance. Hot water took a while to get to the shower (on-demand) but patience was rewarded with nice warm shower! Ah! Dan Cool took us around with him on the evening chores our first night-feeding the furry Scottish Highland cows in the upper pasture and bringing the sheep down to the barn for the evening. Also got to bottle feed one of the little lambs! Aw! So cute! That was fun! Just a bit more about the breakfasts…so fresh and delicious! Arlene kept our dietary needs well in mind and served up a beautiful and yummy treat each day including their own fresh eggs and breakfast meats that they produce and sell there on the farm. And we happily made a purchase to take a bit of Harvest Village home with us!!Big thanks to the Cools for such a lovely weekend! We’re ready to go back!

Clean, yet not comfortable

1 queen bed was comfortable. 2 futons with very thin mattresses on wood base, very uncomfortable. One of the futons was broke. Had to take mattress off the broken futon to place on the other to make more comfortable. Owners were very nice and breakfast was delicious. Just need better mattress on the beds

The hosts were pleasant and friendly. The breakfast was very nice. The accomodations were very rustic. The room did not include any shower soap, drinking cups or hair dryer. The sink in the bathroom was very sluggish to drain and the shower water did not get very hot even allowing time for on demand water heater. The drive from Ludington was much longer than stated on Expedia and included rough unpaved gravel roads with washed out holes and ruts.

Wonderful farm stay

We needed a place near Leroy as we were biking through and it was a good midpoint btwn Ludington and Clare. The place was well signed so we knew where to go as it was getting dark and Dan and Arlene met us when we drove up to show us around and make plans for breakfast. Breakfast was wonderful. Strong coffee as we like it, fresh fruit, homemade bread, egg casserole delivered at the time we requested. They didn’t have guests the night after us so graciously moved our reservation when the ferry broke down and delayed our arrival. The best part was something they couldn’t offer every year but we were taken to see a lamb who had just been born (it still had afterbirth on it). We watched it stand and milk for the first time. Dan and Arlene were kind to take us to see it and spend time with us as we watched. It will surely be a highlight of our 90 day trip!

Hospitality Plus!

Came to ride White Pine bike trail. Peaceful location and included breakfast made from locally sourced ingredients. Can't be beat! Hosts were accommodating a last minute stay, and couldn't have been nicer. A pleasure to have stayed at the farm.

An absolute gem!

This property is the perfect place to disconnect and unwind (although we did have good internet service)! Communication before the stay was easy as was checking in. There was plenty of room for F150 & 16ft trailer parking. There are adorable cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, friendly cat, & 2 working farm dogs (trained/contained if this is a concern). Our son with Autism and 2 teens LOVED seeing and interacting with the animals. Host, Mr. Cook, took us all along to watch the evening feedings! The lodging space is large with room for the family to spread out. The Cooks are 3rd generation proprietors & some history is shared on the walls of the suite and gift shop. Breakfast was brought to the B&B suite and we ate on our porch, it was delicious! They have pork products, chicken, & jams for purchase-the bacon & strawberry rhubarb jam did not disappoint! If you are 100% bougie, this might not be the place for you. If there is even 10% that is outdoorsy, American Picker, vintage/nostalgic, animal lover, craftsman, adventurous….this is the perfect place to check out!

Great Getaway

I stayed for two nights and had an incredible time. Dan and Arlene were so welcoming and let me shadow for the morning and evening chores on the farm. The breakfasts were incredible. The location was also great, it was so quiet and peaceful on the farm and within a 1-2 hour drive to great destinations like Traverse City or other towns on Lake Michigan

Peaceful and happy family stay

We had such a wonderful time at Harvest Village! Dan and Arlene could not have been better hosts - welcoming, accommodating, and going above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable. They graciously allowed our 8 year old to help with farm chores including collecting eggs, watching feedings, and picking rhubarb from the garden. They answered all his questions and more! We enjoyed a tour of the farm and learned more about the animals and rotations. The room was very comfortable with AC and a private full bath, and we loved the time without tv so we could play board games, cards, and use the fire pit to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. And the breakfasts!! Farm fresh delicious every day!! The Cools also provide a cut list so you can take home fresh bacon, sausage, chops and more. Just a short drive to Cadillac for time spent in town or on the water. The selfish part of me hopes the bookings for this property stay relatively open so we don’t have to compete for future stays, but it’s such a wonderful place you won’t regret a visit.
