Disliked: Cleanliness
Sadly, this is most poorly maintained home that I have ever rented. I saw some of the reviews about cleanliness, so I contacted the owner prior to booking to confirm that these issues had been resolved, and he assured me that they had. It’s not that it’s not “clean”, it’s just that it’s in such poor condition, both inside and out, that no amount of cleaning can cover that up. BOTH the front and back double doors do not properly latch and if someone wanted to, they could fairly easily be pushed open even when locked. Numerous lights were either out, or simply didn’t have a bulb, including the outside light over the front door, which made checkin at night more challenging. There’s clearly been water damage at some point to the floors, door bases, and baseboards (as well as bathroom cabinets), which are crumbling, bubbled and congealed. The paved back yard is a sad sight of broken chairs and overgrown weeds, not fit for humans or dogs. Lastly, the downstairs shower had 2 heads, neither of which worked (how the cleaners were able to clean the shower without noticing that the heads didn’t work, is beyond me…). This house is littered with pithy, homey quotes about family and home, but nothing about this place is happy, and I’m guessing most of those HomeGoods decor pieces are hiding holes in the walls. If you’re planning a fraternity weekend and need to put up some kids that are used to staying in hostels, then this is your dream home.
