Me and my Fiance had a romantic dinner at the cove. We had the worst food poisoning for 2 days and did not get to enjoy our stay in Shang ri la. Will not be going back to that restaurant or the hotel.

Tried to have dinner date with my wife at Buko Bar on March 8, 2025, but the host denied us entry because he said we did not have reservations and the covered tables are limited. Although it wasn’t raining at all that night, we were not given any other options like occupy an uncovered table. I guess we don’t look foreign enough or wearing designer clothes to be let in. We traveled all over the world and this is the first time we were targeted and discriminated upon. The irony is my wife and I was born and raised from the Philippines. Our wedding anniversary was ruined because of one judge mental host. Nowhere was it explained during check in that reservations are required for this restaurant at all. We will never set foot at this property ever again! I’ll just go wherever my money is welcome.

Waterfront. Sandy beach but still some rocks in the water. You will need water shoes which are provided for free. The kids enjoyed feeding the swarm of fish in the beach. Excellent staff service.

Overall, it felt overrated. The staff was excellent, providing top-notch service, but the food was just okay and not refilled in a timely manner. Additionally, some areas showed visible water or flood damage, which took away from the luxury experience. For the brand’s reputation and price, I expected better upkeep and attention to detail. While the service was outstanding, the overall experience didn’t fully justify the cost.

Good but not excellent

This is a nice hotel but not my favorite Shangri-la resort. The pool area is nice and the food was excellent. The rooms were good. I think there was something missing on service that takes it from good to excellent. The attention to detail, attentive service etc. the beach area is also v small and feels man made.
