A small problem with the room I was given when we checked in around 8, but it was corrected quickly. Came in after midnight after having an emergency hospital visit and front desk was helpful and quick to see if we needed anything!

When we arrived, I had to ring the bell twice before a toothless woman came running around the corner, pulling up her bra and her dress, and finally running her hands through her hair before sitting down at the desk. She asked for my last name and the spelling three times before she finally got it in the system. She told me I didn't have a reservation and the hotel was overbooked, so I needed to find my own accommodations. I went back to my car to get my confirmation number and had to ring the bell and wait for her to emerge from whatever activities she was involved in, this time wiping her face and mouth. She was clearly on meth or pain pills because she kept grinding her gums, blinking hard, moving her head fore and back while looking at the screen, closing one eye to look as she typed with her index fingers, and constantly licking her lips. She turned her little screen around and showed me every reservation due to arrive, which is a HUGE NO-NO and violation of privacy. I've worked in hotels for 31yrs and never have I ever encountered a front desk worker exchanging sexual favors for drugs, but I strongly feel like this was the case at Mulberry. My hotel chain does not have any properties in the area or I would've stayed with them at an employee discount, all while receiving Ritz service. I probably wouldn't have stayed even if my reservation was found because there were around twenty different groups of people all standing in the parking lot smoking weed and talking loudly.

Our room 215 is an ada accessible room. This room has the worst stench you could possibly imagine. Unfortunately we were in a rush and just needed to sleep for the night. However, the smell is mostly a strong, wet and sour urine odor. Resembling kind of a nursing home or hospital uncleaned room. I still feel like I can taste and smell that odor today almost exactly 8 hours after leaving that hotel. You can clearly see that they make minimum effort to keep up with any real deep cleaning. Just a fast fabulous mop session and windex and some bleach and call it a day. The ac makes the room feel as though you’re in a natatorium. Wet hot humid musty and muggy. To say the least we will definitely not recommend this location being that we stay in lake Charles a lot.

The hostess that checked us in was very confused and sent us to the wrong room. We had to go back to determine which room to go to. Also around 9 am the morning we were supposed to check out, two staff members just walked in our room without knocking. Luckily we were dressed and decent. The grass around the property had not been mowed for a while. The building and rooms seemed very nice.

Our stay atvthis location was great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect. We were there for the Jennie Finch World Series and were coming from Abilene Tx. While looking for a hotel on line a lot of times looks can be deceiving. Not the Mulberry it looks exactly like it's pictures.
