I was disappointed. For 1500$ a night, I was expecting luxury, but this facility doesn’t even reach any 3 star rating in my opinion. Everything was outdated , stained carpets and dirty walls in common area, corridors, and rooms. Old and beaten up furniture. No room service if you don’t request cleaning the room. Staff seemed busy always. Valet parking available but you might need to self park or get your car from the parking lot( I paid for valet!) . Beach was okay but its Maui you will have a lot of that everywhere. The night luau was nice tho. I stayed at this resort 10-15 years ago and I was surprised how bad it went. Wouldn’t recommend it.

We greatly enjoyed our stay. The resort was in a great location and easy to get to all the activities we wanted to do. The staff was exceptional and added to our wonderful experience.

Just relax that’s all. Relax. You want to go out and dance and hang out with the crowd? Get on the little green trolley and go down to Whalers And do it. But if you want to relax far enough from the crowd and the public walking path, nice ocean access, and basic amenities. This is probably the best you can get. The C bungalow is great. Don’t know much about the hotel.

We rented the room just for 12 hours due to a flight change. We had never stayed at the Royal but here are my take aways: Very clean. Room and entire property was kept clean, well maintained and fairly modern. Pools are small but efficient. We stayed a week in Wailea (more expensive) and was a little disappointed in the food on property at the Royal. We stayed in Ka'anapali because we had dinner reservations at Hono (a must go!!!!!) and then a midnight flight. For the price, it far exceeded our expectations and would definitely use it again for a last day extension. And I know you are going to ask why I would not stay there for longer. It really has zero to do with the hotel and everything to do with the beach. Ka'anapali beaches have a ledge that drops off about 12-18" around knee deep water. Wailea beaches are a gradual dropoff and we prefer the southern beaches to the northern ones. Ka'anapali is more economical than Wailea (especially for food) so for more budget minded travelers this hotel would far exceed your expectations. It did mine. Enjoy!

Front desk staff were unfriendly and not helpful. Thankfully Curtis another employee was great and saved the day since I had no charger and my phone was dead. As I suspected, they had many chargers left by guests, but rhe front desk did not want to help and sent me to the closed store to buy one. The sink was clogged and it was almost impossible to find the room. You must know the building letter, since the key packet only has a number and impossible to find room without the secret letter. Dont waste your time and money here. Better off to sleep on the nearby golf course or in an alley.
