My family and I greatly enjoyed Villas at Pico Bonito. We stayed in the "el Bejuco" villa for four nights, which we found very comfortable for three people (although our 11-year old son has pretty much outgrown a sofa bed, and by this time next year we would need a two-bed villa). The grounds are lovely and well maintained. The pool is one of the better ones we have encountered and is especially welcome after a morning hike to the el Bejuco waterfall! The owner's two German shepherds, Lexie and Ace, became part of OUR family while we were there, accompanying us on our hike to el Bejuco. We ate many of our meals at the Lodge, although we also used the facilities in our villa to prepare our own meals. We found the food very good, although sometimes the approach to service (particularly at breakfast) was a bit of a mystery. One tip - you need to pre-order your breakfast the night before. If you arrive late in the day, remember to do this!) Fresh natural juices would have been preferred over juice mixes, both at breakfast and at the bar. The kitchen equipment provided in our villa was adequate but not extensive - no wine glasses for example - but the staff was very accommodating and did their best to respond to any request (including a request for wine glasses.) Richard, the owner, is extremely amenable, and happy to assist with your day's plans. In my personal view you will need to work hard to find bad things to say about this place.
