Upon check-in, we immediately noticed that our room had a very strong, unpleasant body odor—almost as if it hadn’t been cleaned or aired out for days. I went back to the front desk to request a room change, but the second room we were offered had a similar smell. I then asked if they had any room spray or candles, and instead they offered to show us two more rooms. Unfortunately, the third room smelled even worse than the first two, and the fourth room still had a strange odor. It seems the hotel doesn’t properly air out its rooms, and perhaps the building is older, which contributes to the smells. The fourth room was “good enough” for us to stay in, but I still had to buy room spray, and any time we turned the AC off and came back, the room would smell bad again. Keeping the AC on constantly was the only thing that helped. The room itself was also not very impressive—quite small, and the bathroom layout wasn’t ideal. I prefer how Japanese hotels usually separate the toilet and shower, but here they were together, which wasn’t great. The humidifier in our room also needed a filter change, which I requested on the first day. No one came on the first or second day, and it was only on the third day that someone finally replaced it. Even housekeeping didn’t address it. Speaking of housekeeping, they didn’t take out any of our garbage for the first few days, which was frustrating. We eventually learned that you need to put your garbage outside the room for them to collect it—a

The room was spacious, the the bathroom smells, especially when the water is running. There seem to be confusions on luggage transferring timeline. One of the staff used a translater and says we can drop off the luggage 24h before the flight. When we did, we were told by a different staff that we should've dropped off 3 days before.

Hotel conveniently located close to Kyoto station, numerous malls and restaurants. Bathroom was quite spacious by Japanese standards. In the evening facial products were made available for hotel patrons. Went to buffet breakfast once and found it busy and selection picked over.

Stayed at 3 different hotels during my trip and this one was my favorite. Nice location with just a 2-mins walk from Kyoto station. 711 is connected to the lobby. Spacious and clean room. Comfortable PJs. Nice shower with very hot water and good water pressure. Fast wifi and tons of info on the TV and the website. The only area that could be improved is the laundry room. There was no trash can, and I found some leftover trash in the washer from the previous user. The dryer also wasn’t very effective as our clothes were still wet afterward, so we had to hang them to dry in our room after. There was one light in our room that couldn't be turned off so we had to sleep with that light on every night.
