So very disappointing. Hotel looks very nice, while staff are disinterested and even rude. I took an overnight flight, so asked to check in early. I was told only if I paid additional cost per hour plus additional tax. Such an unusual policy, while I was exhausted so agreed. Could I use the public bath and have coffee? I was told curtly, "No, because it is not the allowed time of check in." I replied that I already paid extra for a few hours early check in and again, was told "You only get the room, no amenities." Really? This is not the Japanese way of hospitality that I have ever experienced in coming to Kyoto for 3 decades. Inconsistent messaging is also prevalent: breakfast is clearly stated until 10:30am in the elevator, while my breakfast pass stated only until 9:30am. All of this is very odd and not up to a hotel standard that promises health and well being--the surly staff make it seem like a transit hotel vs luxury. I am really sorry I booked this place, as its location near the Kyoto station is ideal
