Travelodge is a budget hotel chain with a reputation for a nice place to stay, albeit with notoriously hard beds, and this was exactly the case in Kyoto.
So, yes, the beds aren't great and not really conducive to a great night's sleep, but everything else about this place is great! The rooms are spacious, well-decorated and even contain a little sofa for you to sit on while you watch the TV. There is plenty of room to breathe, The en-suite bathrooms are relatively accessible and easy to operate,
The hotel itself provides a breakfast buffet (for a price) and coin-operated laundry machines which really help the lightly-packed traveller. Of course there are drink vending machines nearby and in the hotel itself, but the hotel does provide free hot drinks in the rooms, like they do in the West.
In terms of location, the hotel itself is within walking distance of a main road with links to the Kyoto bus network; I would personally recommend getting a taxi to the hotel after hours, but that's not a necessity. Whether you're a tourist wanting to "do" Kyoto or just a gamer looking for a place to shoot videos, this is the hotel for you, at a very reasonable price. It's nothing exceptional... but it's certainly got everything you need!
