Great little hotel opposite the Higashi Hongan-ji Temple 東本願寺（真宗本廟), a few minutes from Kyoto station. Wonderful atmosphere but we did not have time to try the baths or restaurant.

I highly recommend this hotel for others. It was walking distance from Kyoto Train station. And has a free shuttle bus that drops off at various sites in Kyoto once a day on some days of the week. Breakfast had many options and was delicious. Onsen was clean and warm with wonderful high quality free to use facial products and hair products.

Best breakfast Buffet in the world! Homemade high number of Japanese delicacies which had me going back again and again. My room (203) faced the temple across the street, yet I barely heard any street noise. The staff treated me like a most valued customer. And they assisted in an issue with shipping a package back to the states. Despite the slight dings here and there, the hotel was spotless and I wouldn't stay anywhere else when I return to Kyoto.

The staff was incredible and very nice. The room was really beautiful and they even given you pajamas which were top notch. They have a public path within the hotel too. The aesthetic is great and they have a beautiful temple across the street to visit and in the mornings usually a small market in front of the temple too.

Hotel Kuu has it all. 5/5! Room: Clean, spacious, tatami mats, sleep wear, slippers/flipflops, bidet, all amenities from razors to hair dryers and the basic toiletries and shower needs. Facilities: Breakfast, transport services, Onsen (Tattoo-friemdly - can use even when you have tattoos), even a vending machine near the Onsen/a (Small and Large) with Large Onsen having a sauna and a cold bath, onsen, and an outdoor onsen. Staff: Friendly and can speak English well. The hospitality is something I'd come back for. Location: Near public transportation and the Kyoto Station for Shinkansen. Near food places for all types just walk around and you'll find plenty in the direction of the Kyoto station around it. In front is already a temple/shrine and a bus away from the popular tourist spots. I will definitely stay here again 5/5

Great location. It was about 5-6 minutes from Kyoto train station . Also the main bus stations just located in front of Kyoto Station. Kyoto tower s just a few minutes from hotel.and a beautiful temple just across street from hotel. Shops and eats within walking distance. The hotel staffs are excellent and helpful. The staffs are try their best to assist you. All the staffs are speaking English. The room are comfortable and good size in Japan’s standard.they let us borrowed umbrella everyday while we were there. Plus starting the month of Nov.2025, the hotel Has free shuttle bus to take you to the attractions. We wished the hotel had that serviced while we were there. It is not a big hotel . I think it is mix between Japanese and western . It is a female and male public hot tube in the hotel. It was nice to a hot bath after a long day . I definitely would book this hotel again .

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was a terrific size for a Japanese hotel room; the dark decor was a little dated but the temple view was fantastic. The hotel was a very walkable distance from Kyoto station and all in all, we had a very enjoyable stay here. Would highly recommend!
