As it was my first time in a capsule hotel, I chose a private room. It was a great experience! Very reccomended for ladies. Free soft drink was a plus. Very good quality amenities.
We stayed in the capsule for the experience. The capsule was large and comfortable. The noise of people coming and going was not. I found having to put my luggage on a different floor inconvenient. I also did not feel comfortable with the ladies floor it was one big bathroom with 30 naked women all trying to bath and get ready at the same time.
I was skeptical about the stay before my trip but after the stay I will consider going back again whenever I travel to Kyoto ! Service is good, place is super clean and convenient and location is just next to Nijo Castle
Clean and awesome place to stay at. The hotel sleep, dress, and shower area is split between male and female. The shared bath area (similar to an onsen style??) is really neat and an experience in itself, not recommended for people who dislike shared showers. The hotel provides all the necessary toiletries including tooth brush, shaving gel, cream, and moisturizers. The sleeping capsule is very cozy. The tenth floor dining area, the only area not split between male and female use, has a nice view of Nijo castle and the hotel provides pajamas. The only downside is that you need to vacate the hotel after 10am and may not return after 4pm.
So pleased I tried a Pod Hotel (though I am told that they are not all as nice as this one) The staff asked me to take my shoes off on arrival and you put them in a locker in reception, they explained the process in English and it was easy to follow. The pod and cleanliness areas were very clean.
Bed and room are clean. Facilities nice. But since the capsules are not noise proof, sleeping are a bit disturbed. Luggage and valuables needs to be stored in separate floor and not very convenient. But men and women are on separate floors with separate lifts so overall it is quite ok.
Stay like the locals ! - A way to appreciate Japan
It is a brand new, extremely clean capsule hotel. Staff is friendly and tolerant, location - perfect - right next to Nijo castle. Easy to find. It is a very Japanese experience - so do not come looking for a western comfort. Perhaps - stay in the room, vs the capsule itself, if afraid of claustrophobia. Breakfast was really not much to talk about - tea / coffee with small breads - so be prepared to supplement. Very clean bathing facility - shared with other people of the same gender - if you have gone to the Korean / japanese sauna in US - you will have no issues. Stay like the locals - come open minded and you will enjoy it !!!
