The room was clean and large. The food was excellent and the monks were friendly and helpful. The grounds and facility was beautiful. We were blessed with a fresh snowfall to make it even more beautiful. Keep in mind if you go in the winter, even though your room is toasty warm, the halls are not. So any walking to dinner, a ceremony, THE BATHROOM, is all in freezing temperatures and I never got hot water from the tap to wash my hands with.

Great place and experience. The food was fresh and good and friendly people both working and living in the temple. Remember that it's cold in the temple during winter. The bedroom is warm.

初めての宿坊での宿泊。宿泊する部屋には、ファンヒーター・炬燵、敷布団には電気毛布が用意されており、暖かく過ごせました。が、トイレとお風呂までの廊下は寒いので、暖かい服装で移動する必要があります。 夕食後には本堂で瞑想の時間、朝はお勤め、護摩行の時間があり、自由参加でしたが全て参加しました。本堂には、椅子とブランケットが用意されており、ストーブもついていました。部屋では、写経の用意もされていたので、写経も経験できました。 食事もとても美味しく、私はお腹いっぱいでしたが、息子達には、量的に物足りなかったようです。 テレビもあったのですが、テレビを観ることもなく、日常では経験できない時間を過ごすことができました。 ただひとつ、部屋のコンセントが暖房器具に使われていて、携帯の充電に使用できるコンセントが少なく、工夫が必要でした。

For most people it’s a once in a lifetime experience as it was for us. Good food, the onsen was not so good, ceremonies, which due to our lacking Japanese we couldn’t understand. But all in all a great experience. It was rather cold in the temple.
