Older business hotel with keys that have to be dropped off at the desk every time you leave.
Pros:
Location. Near Yataimura and Kagoshima Chuo Station.
Extra pillows on rack near the elevator.
Cons:
Check-in. This hotel threatened to cancel my reservation unless I let them photocopy my driver's license or resident's card. I reminded them that according to Japanese law people with addresses in Japan, regardless of nationality, are not subject to such privacy invasions (unfortunately, tourists a forced to comply). I stayed calm the entire time, and they eventually relented. However, if you are a non-Japanese resident of Japan, then I do not recommend this place because they appear to train their staff to break the law by demanding a copy of ID even from Japanese residents.
Room. The description claims there are black-out drapes/curtains, but this was not the case in my room. The attached picture shows daylight easily glowing through even though the room lights are on.
The air conditioner is not from the 21st century. You can turn it on, but you can't change the desired temperature. It was way too hot (controlled centrally).
There's no humidifier in the room, so it was bone dry while sleeping. Woke up with a sore throat every morning.
