20 years ago, this property would have been spectacular. However, today is is very run down. Our unit had sewer smells each morning, the power plugs didn’t work, many light switches were broken, the safe didn’t work and our towels were frayed and worn. Worst part, we had pre-paid and couldn’t change or leave early. Will never go back!!!!!!

Easy walking distance to Ixtapa centro, where there are dozens of restaurants, bars, shops. Public beach access is an easy walk. Room and grounds were kept clean, pools were super nice. Our room was dated, but clean. Limited kitchen equipment, but fine for simple meals. I gave it 4 stars for the price point, the grounds and the staff. It's walled and gated with security roaming all the time.

Puerta Del Mar is quiet and the grounds are lovely. The staff is friendly and every thing is clean and well kept.

Sisters vacation

Overall I liked the hotel. It was close to everything we needed. Check in was smooth. They were renovating the lobby when we went And we didn’t get a room key until day two in the afternoon which was a bit of a inconvenience as we had to go to the lobby to get someone to let us into our room each time we returned from being out. Room was spacious. Fridge was nice n cold as was the a/c. Shower pressure and temperature were great. The maid Erika was great. Thorough cleaning each day had no complaints there. Pool was great and cleaned daily and the water slide was fun. Massage by the pool was a nice way to start the morning. I would stay here again for sure. Keep in mind it’s not luxurious- it’s a great Mexican style hotel that suited us just fine.

great location and great price...clean as a whistle...refrig was ancient but it was cold as the south pole...needs to have hot water in the kitchen sicnk... wwe carried hot water from the bath room...could have a few more chairs at the pool when there is a larger occupancy...the pools are the best in the area..and the water slike is wonderful...I can afford the Bay View Grand but this place has all the features of BVG and the price is right and the beach is only a block away.... and Julio Ceaser is the best guide.....John W. Happy with Puerta Del Mar

The location was decent, about 5-7 minute walk to beach, 2-3 min walk to restaurants and stores, including a grocery and ATM's. Super friendly staff, although very limited in their English. I was the only gringo guest (I asked). I had a large one-bedroom suite w/ 2 bathrooms, well worth the price. Rooms did not smell, and were very clean, with equipped kitchen, dining area, 5 gallon water bottle. The downside for me was the technology: internet sucked. Upon check in they told me I had to be out on my balcony for Wifi reception, which is not desirable in 90 degrees with two AC units blasting hot air on you. Then I figured out to use my laptop off of my cell phone, but still slow to load. In suite safe was too small for a tablet. Both TVs did not work. Excellent AC and fans. Get an upper floor. Good elevator service, good secure free parking. All in all, it meets most Western standards except technology, at a good value price.

A bug infested fire trap. Do yourself a favour and do not stay here. When you complain .... you get not where with the hotel. We had to lose our money and go to another hotel. Bad,bad,bad!!!

Ceiling fans were very loud. Not a good night sleep because of the loudness. The shower head fell of during shower and the maintenance dept. didnt fix it in two days, not a big deal but still somewhat uncomfortable. The hotel charges extra for the drinking water in the hotel room. Very surprised. At checkout after paying for the drinking water had to wait for a small amount of change in 90 degree weather so i just told them to forget it. Keep the change. Dont think i will be returning to that hotel.

Excelent for the price.....only complaint is lack

Experience was good...great for te price...not on the ocian but a block from the ocian...there are several big pools..not crowded and the pools ar very clean ....it has a slike into the pool which is fun....I would susggest the hotel put in mid size endglish tv if they want usa customers....also the pool furniture is broken and needs to have more furnishture if the hotel was fus....not many people there so there were enouht pool chairs but not if the place were full.

Champagne experience on a beer budget

within easy walking distance to the beach, the bus line, and multiple restaurants & shopping. Quiet, pleasing gardens & pool area. Excellent service by staff, very responsive & eager to help with questions. Enjoyed watching the inguanas in the trees at back of hotel each morning. Room was spacious, clean. View from the balcony of the ocean, city and scenic hillsides

Good for the Money

I rented 3 rooms for a family vacation. Overall, we had a good time. The rooms and some furnishings and appliances were dated. The AC's in two of the three rooms did not work correctly but were fixed the next morning. At check-in and check-out, a staff member takes inventory of all silverware, cups, dishes, appliances, towels etc. which was time consuming. Alcohol, except from the hotel's bar, is not allowed in the pool area even in cups. Staff was helpful but only spoke Spanish. Kids loved the pools and water slide. Affordable place to bring the family.

Good location close to the beach

The staff was nice as well as the location. Laundry service was expensive,or you have to go outside the property to do your laundry and get change for tips. Since I was touring everyday, it was not too much of an inconvenience. I'll be back Christmas for a month renting a condo in an gated golf area. I recommend this place, if you don't mind some inconveniences. The price is right.

Close to beach with great pool and grounds

I was disappointed that the towels were so old and threadbare and stiff as a board. Two mornings I could not get hot water for my shower and it eventually took about 20 minutes of running the water to get hot. I wish there had been a bar/lounge at the hotel. The staff was very helpful and pleasant and the hotel was in close proximity to bars, restaurants and shopping.
