Other Things to Note:

What to bring with you!- You're coming to a wilderness area to vacation and if you plan your vacation well you will have a positive experience. In the summertime May and through the middle of June can tend to be cooler early morning and toward the evening hours. Make sure to bring a jacket and long pants you can change into when needed. Bring a pair of tie up shoes to protect your feet. Shoes likes flip flops or sandals will not protect your feet when you are out exploring. Layering your clothing is a good idea and then if your too warm you can take off clothing as needed. At least this way when departing your cabin early morning to go site seeing you will have what you need with you. July and August are pretty warm and you should still bring a light jacket. The rest of the year you will want to bring heavier jackets and long underwear, snow suits etc. You will need to bring your private toiletries like bar soap and shampoo as we do not provide this for you. Cabins are equipped with everything else you should need except food of course. Snow tires and four-wheel-drive are recommended for traveling in Eastern Idaho during the winter. Road conditions can change quickly, and even well-traveled highways are occasionally closed by blizzards or high winds. Before setting out, check the Transportation Department's website or call 511 for an automated, up-to-the-minute status of all thoroughfares. Wise motorists will also carry emergency gear (shovel, snack bars, water, blankets) in their vehicles to be ready for any contingency. Coming Snowmobiling? A reminder to anyone traveling back country areas whether skiing, snowmobiling or hiking: Remember the time of year, exercising all back country cautions. Take necessary equipment and survival gear when venturing into the back country. If you have a GPS and cell phone, be sure to take them with you, but do not rely on them entirely for a safe rescue if you find yourself in trouble or stranded. Cell phones should be kept close to your body & turned off to keep the battery full, so it's not searching for a signal & running the battery down. Avalanche Transceivers and equipment, knowing what the avalanche conditions are, and knowing skills to save lives are a must for everyone entering back country riding or traveling. Plan ahead. Make sure you know the area you are going into before heading into it. If you find yourself in trouble, stop, take a look around you, and do not go any further. The further you go the more complicated and dangerous it is to get yourself to safety, also making rescue efforts more difficult and dangerous. Make mental notes in relation to any physical features or landmarks that would assist in your rescue. Make a plan, stick to your plan, narrow the riding area, & most of all...let someone know WHERE you are planning to go!

Great Island Park Stay

Bears Den Cabin was wonderful for our family vacation in island park. Down the street from Macks Inn and Big Springs loop to go river rafting. 20-30 minutes from West Yellowstone. Only complaint - the on suite bathroom toilet had some issues flushing, float valve was sticking and the propane tanks for the bbq were both empty, grilled one night and the gas went out. Had to exchange a tank. Other than that our stay was great.

Quiet and Cozy

Great place to stay that is quiet and mostly secluded. If it's hot outside, the upstairs area can be warm, but there are box fans available to set up. I'd still highly recommend staying here.

Great cabin near yellowstone

We had an incredible time visiting Yellowstone and the surrounding area on the west side of the park. This cabin was perfect and had everything we needed to make our stay pleasant and easy. The check-in and check-out information was perfect and the owners were very responsive to questions.

Lots of beds

It was clean and comfortable. It was only used to sleep in so I can’t comment on much else but it was easy to get to, and the toddler beds were adorable.

Very welcoming! Nice and clean upon arrival! Comfortably fit 8 teens and adults. Love the proximity to West Yellowstone (less than 1/2 hour) and the scenery and recreational activities available in Island Park.

Truly Amazing

Such a beautiful area and well kept home. Cute fun at the Bears Den as the entire house has bear decor.. and guests leave notes about how many bears they found around the home. The fire pit was great. The area is very quiet and peaceful. The beds were VERY comfortable. Even during summer the fans did a great job keeping things cool. Plenty of space for 4 adults, 2 teenagers, and an active, imaginative 7 year old. Plenty of kitchen space and large fridge. We brought all of our food for 5 days. Area residents are very nice and helpful. Trash was super easy as well. Directions on clean up and communication was exceptional with the rental company. We would absolutely stay here again.

Island Park- Bear’s Den

The proximity of the house to Island Park, Yellowstone and even the Grand Tetons was perfect. The house was large enough for our family of 10 (except the kitchen). The house itself could use a lot of love. There was a broken sofa table when we arrived and we received no response from the rental management company. Everything felt a bit outdated. Downstairs was clean, but upstairs there were dead ants everywhere, no screen on the window and was super hot! Downstairs was very cold. This turned out to be because the pilot light on the fireplace was not working. The propane company came to deliver, which was fine, but he wanted to come in to check the pilot light. We were there, so it was fine, but it didn’t work and he said he was going to have his boss come back later that day and look at it. If we hadn’t been there, we never would have known and weren’t thrilled about other people coming in and out while we were staying there, especially with no notice.

Needs some work

This gem may sleep 13 but the kitchen only holds 2. The cleaning crew needs to up its game by cleaning the glass tables and vacuuming the ibuprofen pills under the bunk room beds. I’m has tons of potential but needs some work. The booking agency needs to answer their phones rather than having the guests text them. We never could figure out how to start the gas fire stove

Back to nature

The property was accurately presented and was very comfortable. We enjoyed the large living area and the fireplace. The water system failed on our last day but the property managers were great in getting it fixed without any interruption of our time. Would love to go back sometime next year.
