The translation of the hotel’s name is spirit home - relevant as the architecture is SO fairytale gothic towers. If I hadn’t seen such riches I’d be crying out for more!

Heating Problem?

The heating wasn’t working in the first room that I was allocated. I was promptly given another room when I notified reception, although there was no apology to any inconvenience. The second room had heat mainly coming from a plug in electric heater. It managed to make the bedroom somewhat comfortable but the bathroom was absolutely freezing. I went down to the bar for some food and comfort but it was also freezing down there. I heard other people in the bar comment about issues with heating in their rooms and needing to change rooms multiple times. If the heat wasn’t problematic, the overall stay would have been very enjoyable.

Room was extremely cold. I couldn’t see the mirror when using my hairdryer to dry my hair.. it was too far away. Dogs were allowed but there were no facilities for hosing dogs off.. did not want to get room muddy. Staff did not know what was in the smoothie as chef was not on duty. Lovely building. Friendly staff. Overall enjoyed it but a few little things let it down.

Lovely venue. Heating in room didn’t work. Called reception they assured us it was working and would just take a few mins to start warming up. Sadly on returning to room this not the case and freezing. Had to walk to reception and ask for another room. In fairness reception were helpful and gave us another room. Just made the evening far from relaxing as intended.

Wonderful

I was staying for a weekend, on my own. The hotel is beautiful, the room was comfortable with lovely views and a modern bathroom, the service was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a nice 5k route around the countryside, with a map at reception. The only negative was that it was a little cold in my room, but the outside temperature was -6C, and I was offered an extra duvet, which helped! The bar and restaurant both had an open fire. Overall, I had a lovely stay.
