Great location, right on the beach, walkable to town. Everything was straightforward, clean, quiet. No air conditioning, but I didn't need it, and there was a fan if the ocean breeze was insufficient. The king-sized mattress had a seam down the middle, like 2 twins put together, but was stil pretty comfortable.

Our room was no different than any lower end hotel or motel. It was fine for one night but I wouldn't wanted to have stayed longer. Note we were not in a larger water front room and don't know what they are like.

Lovely beachside hotel with a solid restaurant/bar. Only downside was no air conditioning and the bathroom had heated floors we couldn’t turn off.

We booked a driftwood room, didn't know until we got there it was totally separate from the rest of beachfront resort. 2nd floor room, uncomfortably hot. No aircon only thing available was a fan. Nice clean tidy accommodation otherwise.

Clean room with a comfortable bed and good pressure in the shower. Close to the beach and all shops. Dined at beachside restaurant for dinner. Had an excellent meal and lovely view of the beach. Hokitika is an interesting place to visit.

Room was exceptionally hot with no aircon. The fridge did not work. The shower nozzle was a trickle of water. The shower was cramped. If you require a budget stay, it's a shade better than a backpack.
