Great location for flights from Gatwick North Terminal, connected to the terminal so if it was raining you don’t need to go outside. Very nice rooms and couple of options for eating and drinking. Friendly staff

Poor service

Stay ruined by awful service in the restaurant, 40 minutes to be served a drink, 60 minutes for a starter and 90 to see your main, wasn't even busy and felt like our main had been forgotten until we questioned it's whereabouts, Unsurprisingly bill appeared much quicker! On pointing out I wasn't paying a service charge got a slightly arsey manager who didn't see to care or understand. We've stayed before but doubt would again.

Needed more cleaning

We had been at this hotel several times. The staff is great but we were so disappointed about the cleanness this time, in particular the bathroom had handprints on the walls and the door. Doesn’t make you feel like you are in a clean area.

Property was excellent room was very nice and the beds were super comfortable. Perfect for a family of 4. The kids having their own proper beds was fantastic rather than fold away beds that we often get.

The sofitel is right by the North terminal only a short walk from the terminal building. We arrived after midnight due to a late flight but were checked in quite quickly. Room was a pleasant standard hotel room. We did not use any facilities as we had to leave first thing the next day so cannot comment on the rest of the hotel.

Staff were great. BUT... bathroom smelled of stale grey water. Noticed this last year as well. Suspect plumbing for the hotel is not properly vented. When other rooms flush toilets you can hear rumbling/gurgling from the bathroom. Bed was uncomfortable: there was a soft 'pillow-top' on the mattress that was a different size from the mattress itself so there was an overhang on the edges making definition of the edge of the bed very hard to guage when sitting down or getting in/out. Also led to there being a 'trench' at the head of the bed which swallowed half of one pillow on both sides. Bathroom was supplied with just one towel: for two person occupancy! No extras like toothbrush/toothpaste. Room service charge of 5 pounds (fair enough) but an additional 12.5% is also added... for what? (I bought food from M&S in North Terminal instead). Overall disappointed considering the price.
