Great for short stay

I liked this hotel and it was comfortable enough for one night, but the towels smelled like gasoline and the tv was in a really awkward place so neither bed could watch comfortably. I loved the restaurant, all the hooks in the room, welcome drink and the free lockers. I would stay here again for a short one or two night stay.

Overall we had a pleasant stay at Moxy. It is a modern and moody atmosphere. They give drink tokens upon check in which is a nice touch and enjoyable to have out on the back porch area. They also have water and coffee readily available in the lobby. The rooms were cleanly. However, they lacked providing housekeeping each day (only every 48hr if requested). They could provide more towels also. Happy hour is wonderful - both food and drinks are highly recommended. The most important review to consider is that if you are going back and forth from the waterfront BE AWARE there is a pretty steep hike back up!! Not sure we noticed this detail before booking and actually considered calling around to other hotels, but we are glad we stayed. Was worth the exercise lol.

I get that Mariott is trying to reinvent the wheel and completely change the hotel experience. I clearly understand that its target demographic is (financially successful) millennials and gen Z. And that's not me. I can live with the zany, semi- industrial decor / theme. But the Moxy is simply an overpriced, underserviced hotel. Housekeeping comes every other day. Basic toiletries beyond shampoo and soap (e.g., lotion, shower cap) are not provided. No in-room coffee and tea! No closet (hooks on the wall). Communal iron down the hall. No bathroom fan. No desk. No drawers. No comfy chair (a MUST for me!). Instead, a folding chair and folding stool that kind of doubles as an unstable table. I just finished a 3.5 week trip through Atlantic Canada and these two nights at the Moxy were the most expensive and the least satisfactory. Never again.

We truly loved our stay at the Moxy. It was a wonderful hotel and was super clean. Loved the playfulness atmosphere with the games and hidden game room. The fact that the front desk is at the bar is cool. Even if the room was small it really didn’t matter. It was clean, fresh and a fun stay. Thank you!

Okay. But with improvements can be good.

So it’s a fine place. It’s not horrible and it’s not great. My issues are as follows: - Pillows are brutal. Somewhat better than a paper bag. There were no firm pillows available after checking with front desk. - EV charging is a problem. Says there are chargers and there 2. But people with ICE just park there because there is limited parking. Just park for free on the street and fast charge on your way in/out of town - the tables beside the bed are barely big enough. I get the concept is minimalist and reduced room space for more common area. But it was tough to fit water, phone, watch and glasses on the table and there is really no other flat surface other than fridge in room. - TV we didn’t use but was at least 5 degrees off level. The good: - drinks are very reasonably priced. Under 5 USD for a mixed drink. - while the neighbourhood is a bit sketchy, I know everyone is harmless and there is lots of great stuff nearby. Overall it was my first visit to a Moxy property. I think the concept has potential but execution is off, especially for price point.

Very cool decor and atmosphere. Our room was smaller than expected for the cost of our stay. Breakfast was delicious and bartenders provided great service in the evenings. We felt safe and secure with the need to use our card to ride the elevator. Thank you for a great stay!
