Family bach with superb ocean views. The property has two bedrooms inside and a comfortable sleepout, each with a queen bed. There’s a well equipped kitchen, open plan living room, wood burner, indoor & outdoor showers. ( indoor shower has hot water, outdoor shower cold water only) Enjoy a ten minute walk to the golden sand of Medland’s beach. Walk, talk, surf, read a book & in the evenings gaze in wonder at the heavens above. Fishing, surfing, walks, hot springs… even golf!  Take a walk to the hot pools (not deep but very pleasant wallowing) 





Linen & house towels supplied. Please bring your own beach towels. Vehicle access requires crossing of the beach and Oruawharo tidal stream at low tide. If walking,  parking is available next to the camp ground and from there, cross the stream using the pedestrian bridge, turn right and it's a 15 minute stroll to the house. The last 150 metres is up a steep hill.

Make yourself comfortable in this vacation home, which features a fireplace. There's a private balcony. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, a stovetop, and a kitchen island.

The perfect bach

This was my second time at this property and it was just as good if not better because it starts to feel like home. Sheltered from a very windy new year of weather, sunny and the outdoor shower is brilliant. Thank you!

A fine Bach overlooking Medlands beach with all one needs for dining on the deck with kaka overhead. Life ruled by the tides and a sofa in every corner for reading and planning the next excursion on wild exotic Aotea

A stay in paradise

We loved everything about our stay in James’s bach. It was utterly charming-simple yet comfortable with all the important trappings like books, games, comfy sofas and a log fire. And the views are exquisite. The setting is perfect - close to the beach and mountain tracks, and we loved crossing the bridge by foot to get to our sanctuary.

Home away from home

Simply walked in, bedding configuration (3 x queen) perfect for our group in 3 private bedrooms. Well equipped kitchen, with everything required to prepare your own meals. Once we got familiar with the tides, we were able to access the property most of the time (this can change depending on water flow/swell) Thanks so much for sharing your property with us, lovely relaxing end to a very social time on the island.

Great Bach

The property was great with extremely good cellphone coverage, power and views. Access could be a problem as very steep and rental cars not permitted to cross the lagoon.

Wonderful holiday!

Excellent holiday at James’ property set overlooking idyllic Medlands Beach. A simple bach with everything we needed for a relaxing, low key holiday. The kitchen was well stocked to cook nice meals, the view stunning and our toddler just loved playing on the front lawn. Communication with James was easy and helpful. We will be back! A note for future holiday makers: insect repellent is a must and it gets very hot in summer with out being able to use a fan. Lunch at Fat Puku and dinner at Carrach Irish pub and Angsana Thai restaurant were all fab.

Lovely Weekend Away

Great bach...everything we needed, comfortable and great view from the deck. Helped ourselves to blackberries and grapes growing along the roadside as we made our way up the hill :)
