The property was initially reasonably easy to find. It was well sign posted and opposite a distinctive building which is easily recognisable from their ‘profile’ picture. Check in however is a little confusing. There is a ‘reception’ desk just beyond the foyer, however this is closed and shuttered off. I was able to gain a reasonable amount of access into the hotel as there is nothing stopping anyone from doing so before I returned to the foyer. There is a sign on the shutter advising guests to check in at the ‘bar’ however this would be more useful for people if this sign indicated that the bar is inside Harvey’s which is part of the hotel. If this had been more clear check in would have been a lot easier.
On checking in it was easy to find my room which was in a courtyard and was a good size for just one person. The room was pretty clean and the fridge was useful for storing my own milk and bottled water, with ample space for more items if I’d wanted to add to it.
The only issue with the room was the bed had an incorrect sized bottom sheet on, which would not stay fitted to the corners even when adjusted. Likely it was a single sized sheet on the double bed and didn’t fit correctly. Otherwise everything else was standard and fitted with the price offered for the accommodation
Stayed here for a night with some friends to attend a wedding. Stayed in room 2 and our shower did not work. Even after raising the issue with the hotel at check in nothing was done about this and no alternative rooms where offered, as a result of this we had to go to the wedding without showering and also same for the drive home the following day.
Everything was great but the bed was a little hard for my liking.

The hotel was good and it's location is excellent, however no lift and narrow winding corridors are not conducive to an elderly patron. The single bed mattress
while adequate was lumpy in places and uncomfortable.
The hotel was extremely convenient for my visit. Would certainly re book again if i revisit Gloucester. A couple of gripes though. No lift. Understandable given it's a listed building. I was not inconvenienced personally by this. But i didn't recall reading that there was no lifts. When i went to book in, i didn't realise i had to book in at the bar. A sign would have been appreciated.. the image of the building on this web site is of the build opposite the hotel, which confused me for about 10 seconds. Perhaps i didn't read the small print and it didn't impact on my enjoyment of my visit. I found the people of Gloucester incredibly helpful and friendly.
The reality is very different from the pictures listed online !
My room was terribly small, cold, dirty, with an uncomfortable small bed which was terrible for my back pain.
When I finally fell asleep the pigeons woke me up!! Such an annoying noise. there are solutions for that if the hotel is interested in receiving better reviews

The bed needs to be adjusted, and the bed is too short.

Great cheap hotel
We really enjoyed our stay here. It was fabulous to have a microwave and crockery although we didn’t use it. The room was nicely decorated and the bathroom was lovely. It would have been nice to have a view from the window but we only stayed one night so it didn’t matter.
I was not allowed to stay for 1 night out of the four I booked, I was arrested (wrongly) and came back to hotel to find all my stuff removed from my room
I asked where my belongings were to be told I don’t know
Awfull
i managed to get a room on the third floor, lots of steps. the bed was very hard, unfortunately when making a cup of tea the milk in the fridge was bad resulting in no tea.the tv aerials were unplugged and the wifi was non existent. not sure who does the laundry but the towles need changing as are all frayed
The photo they offer is of the bulding opposite and the hotel itsefl as much younger! It is also apparant that it has had some quite recent refurbishment and our room was almost new.
It was quiet and comfortable and fully what I expected. My only concern is that the hotel frontage is onto a pedestrianised road and I wonder if I will get a ticket (in due course) for driving there...on a Sunday?
I suggest the hotel information SHOULD explain this better and direct guests arriving by car to use the street behind, where they can park
