I stay at the village Hotels primarily for the gym access which are always great, top quality equipment. Food in the restaurant was cooked perfectly and staff were good. Room was the downside, windows didn’t seal shut properly allowing for external noise and cold air into the room, areas of the bathroom needed a good scrub, would I stay again yes purely because of the gym.

Broken bed, no parking, poor noise blocking

Bed was broken and had to move rooms at 11:30 at night. Was moved into a disabled access room which wasn't really suitable due to the very low sink, low toilet, etc. Both rooms allowed a lot of noise in from neighbouring rooms and I was woken up at 6am by the person in the room next to me. My first bed was broken as stated but the second one wasn't much comfier. The bedding was put on poorly in both rooms and I had to pull out the bed to put the sheets on properly in both rooms as parts of the mattress were visible at the top of the bed. I'd also say that the rooms I've stayed in feel quite dated and the furniture and carpet look quite worn. Parking is a major issue - if you arrive around 6/7pm, it's impossible to park due to people using the swimming and gym facilities, meaning that actual hotel guests can't find a space. My colleague never found a space so we had to go to dinner and she checked in at 9pm instead. I've only stayed here before due to its location being near my work. For the same price, I've stayed in hotels in the city centre which offer much better value.

Big room and comfortable, but not great experience

There is no visible signage to say it’s a hotel outside and no signs to say what the checking in area is or reception. I asked a member of staff is this the hotel part of the building and if so where do I check in. She said yes (dismissively) and then pointed to some screens and said to check in there. No offer to help or guide. I haven’t stayed at a Village inn before, so didn’t know this, nor had I used their systems, but It was fairly intuitive. A member of staff did come to the screens about half way through checking inn and asked if I needed help, but I was already working through by then. Room was huge, clean and a good temperature and bed was comfortable. Went into the bar for food, but there was a rugby match on and the area had a large crowd of people sat round in front of a tv, living every touch/kick, so ate elsewhere. Village Is a big brand, but fell short for me. Wouldn’t rule them out, but wouldn’t rush back or recommend.
