This hotel was probably the most convenient hotel in our two weeks stay in Europe. It was only a block from the train station, and a few blocks in the other direction to Lake Geneva. There were a lot of food places in shops in a walkable distance around it. The hotel room itself was OK, the balcony was really nice, but the room just seemed a little outdated in terms of furniture and appliances. However, we still had a good night sleep so that made it okay

Allot of noise at night if using the rooms to the rear elevation/courtyard. If so you will need earplugs. Staff are amazing, super polite and professional. Ground floor entrance area is immaculate and the breakfast was ample. Free coffees from the machine in reception!

Good base to strike out from

The hotel is well located near the train station. Rooms are of a good size and the showers are great. The downside is that the lift is very small (we only used it for moving luggage) and we found the rooms to be very warm (it was a very Warm day for january).

Okay, not as expected

Location was decent and fairly walkable with lots of restaurants to eat around. Our bed was dirty from the luggage cloth and had to be cleaned again but no one was available and no other rooms available so we had to move to their sister hotel across the street at Magnolia. Customer service was decent, but much better at the other property and the room was more spacious over there too although Hotel Des Alpes rooms did look a little more modern. It's a small hotel, and it was okay but it was very inconvenient. Wouldn't stay here again, photos looked much better than it was.

Arranged and confirmed with the Front desk the night before a late checkout 1pm instead of 12noon. 12:15p the front desk call to say checkout was at 12:00 noon. I told him that we had arranged a late checkout, was told it was impossible. We were already packing so we rushed to get out. When we got down to check out the clerk said if we wanted to, we could go back up to the room until 1pm.

Hotel des Alpes is a good choice for a short stay (1-2 nights). It’s small and in a very busy location, so it’s not a luxuriant option. But, for convenience to transportation (train & bus), central location for walking the city, and reasonable cost in an expensive city/country, it’s perfect.
