I travel for a living and I've never had a bad experience at Holiday Inn Express. Until now. From the beginning, the elevator felt like it was going to go kaput. Rooms were plain gross & outdated and smelled like mold. Walls needed paint, windows were disgusting. Flying bugs all over bathroom. Shower was cold, felt spongy under my feet. Breakfast was meh. All in all a pretty lousy experience. I wish I paid for insurance, would have canceled and gone else where. Do yourself a favor, stay ANYWHERE else.

The property is right across the street from the beach. There isn't very many attractions close by, so the area is fairly quiet.

Great location. But ocean view not really

I don’t like these hotels that say “ocean view” when they give you a room at the back of the hotel away from the ocean. Technically I could go out on the balcony & see over the hotel extension to see about ten feet of water. If you want a real ocean view call the hotel & talk to someone and get one of the rooms up front that really is a complete ocean view. It is a great location we packed our stuff & walked across the street each day to the beach.

Property smells like mold. Doors didn't lock. Couldn't even sit on the balcony cause the chairs were rusted. The door to the balcony wouldn't close all the way or lock and the main door wouldn't lock we had to use the flip lock and hope for the best. The shower had mold growing on it. I wouldn't recommend staying there.

Bathroom touch up

Staff is friendly (Roberto at front desk), room is clean, bed is comfortable, breakfast is fresh, good location and easy parking. The only thing we didn’t like was water pressure of shower (maybe can improve better shower head) and black mold on bathroom ceiling (need touch up).

Breakfast area and Lobby was very nice. Breakfast was great and staff was friendly. The 2nd floor room 202 was very uneven and was a bit of tripping hazard. Took water over 5 minutes to be warm enough for shower and water pressure wasn’t great.

The room was clean and comfortable, but we had two issues. One, the middle support fell off of the bed my husband was using, so he was afraid the bed was going to fall during the night. Two, the cleaning staff did not pull our door closed after they cleaned the room, so it was accessible when we were not in the room. We came back later to find it opened about 3" and not locked. Nothing was missing, but it did not make us feel very confident about the security of the room. Overall, the hotel was clean and the service people kept the room tidy, and it was a good price for the location. We would stay here again!

This hotel needs some maintenance done. The pool lights do not work and the hot tub jets don’t work. Breakfast is put up and cleaned up before cut off time. The balconies need paint and new chairs. Carpet could use a good cleaning.

Would stay here again!!

The pool was great and the a/c was great. The beds were comfortable and I enjoyed having an ocean view and chairs to sit outside or dry clothes. The bathroom floor tiles were broken and the bottom of the tub was very slippery. The staff was very friendly and tried their best to accommodate our requests. We had to reprogram our keys twice in a 3 day stay. The rooms were spacious and the dove products were nice to have in the bathrooms.The free breakfast breakfast had a nice selection of hot and cold food. The pancake machine wasn’t nearly as exciting as a waffle station and kept malfunctioning. The elevators alternated on being shaky and weird but didn’t go out of service. Parking spots filled up quickly. Being directly across to the beach was a huge plus for our family. Overall I would stay here again and we travel to Galveston often.
