Overall a good place to stay for a few days. The check-in was a pain as the desk is not managed. I had to down load an app to check-in and also had to provide a large security deposit to check-in and receive my electronic key.
Once this was complete an electronic key is issued through the app. However, the key did not work. I was lucky to see the cleaning lady who granted me access. She had to call the management to get me access to my room. There is also an electronic key dispenser in the main stairway that can provide a credit card style key that I ended up using for my stay. This made it easier to come and go because i don't have an internal cell plan and had to rely on wifi zones.
This is a very odd hotel. I stayed two nights and never saw or met an employee. You check in on a computer screen and it dispenses key cards after you do data entry of all your personal info including passport info. Another strange thing is my room had a coffee maker and tea pot but no coffee packets or tea packets. So I had to walk across the street each morning to the Shell gas station for coffee.
This was my first time staying in a completely automated hotel. There was no one there to check me in. It took me a little bit of time to figure things out but it all worked out. I was angry briefly because I couldn’t figure out the Wi-Fi and there were no signs in the lobby but luckily another guest had wandered by and said look in your room for a card with the Wi-Fi info which makes sense and I felt stupid for not having done that but being an exhausted weary traveler and thrown off by the fact that there was no one working there I wasn’t thinking clearly and for a moment there I was very angry. I think the hotel could afford to have a sign in the lobby simply saying Wi-Fi information in your room. I know that should be understood but if my exhausted mind I didn’t figure that out then there probably will be others with the same issue. I also think there should be mention of the fact that it’s an automated hotel with no one working there that should be mentioned when you’re booking it.
Location is ok if you need to work in the area. It is a comfy room with good shower. There is no breakfast available but you can buy pastries in a Rewe shop which in next doors. There is a nice coffee machine with a 3 pods in the room. Check in is a bit confusing, I tried to check in online as the german hotel app suggested but this has created a confusion with the machine you need to use to get the key. I needed to call to find out that I need to click on an option that I have lost my key in the machine. Otherwise nice place.
The hotel is smart - hotel itself. It means that you can get your key remotely before arrival. Invoice and check out can be done remotely also.
1.Location is good, free parking available. Supermarket is in the same building.
2. The room was extremely clean. Nice smell, clean bed linen.
3.There weren't any windows in room 11, but for the price it was ok to lack of extras.
Nice, clean room. Didn’t have fridge or microwave. Right next to grocery store. Had no issues with stay, but there was no personnel during the evenings if I had needed help. Knowing this I still would return for solo travel. Families might want a different place.
Self check-in was a first for me. Machine checks you in and prints out a key card. Never saw a staff person until my last day (theyre only at front desk for a limited time per day). But place was clean, quite and next to a grocery store. No complaints.

Disliked: Staff & service
Ok hotel for a night.
Easy automatic check it. So no human interaction or service. The room was ok, the main problem was that the light of the hotel sign was right outside the windows so at night all the light came in present us to sleep well.
Because there was nobody to talk to we weren’t able to change rooms.
I was amazed at the machine check-in (no staff, no welcoming), and having to climb several sets of stair cases with heavy luggage (no elevator, no explanation for little carrier lift - which I learned about later). And the atmosphere in the inside the hotel reminded me of better youth hostels. The room did look they on the picture, but it felt much less welcoming & nice than expected. Above a supermarket, looking onto parking lot and quite heavy traffic on main street... not at all as quiet as I perceived it when booking (maybe my mistake...). Coffee/tea machine in hallway didn't work. Staff in the morning was very friendly & helpful though! And it was clean, though.
We had difficulty finding the hotel. It is above a Rewe grocery store with very little signage. Once we found it, the hotel staff were very accommodating and very nice rooms.
basic hotel quite close to the city centre.
the room was clean and the forniture new; the radiators where off (we were there at the beginning of november) and in the morning the room was a bit cold. there is limited reception service: when we arrived around 6 pm on sunday the reception was closed and we entered through the automatic check-in, which was easy to use.
there is no breakfast room, but one can buy coffee and danish pastries at the front desk.
the wifi signal was very weak and kept dropping.
1. The entry instructions for out of hours entry are incorrect, you should update these.
2. The shower in room 14 is broken and needs fixing.
3. Someone (I guess the cleaner) left my room open with my personal posessions available for anyone to take.
4. The room smells of paint.
5. There is nowhere to make a hot drink
6. There is no breakfast.
I was refunded my payment some days before I was due to arrive, without any notification as to why. The hotel still appeared on my account as a booking, so I thought I had to go there to be sure otherwise I might be charged the full fee. I turned up around 17:00 with no-one at the counter, so I waited. Eventually a resident told me the place is just for refugees and tourists must go elsewhere. I wandered around Darmstadt Nord trying to find somewhere to stay, ending up an hour later at Darmstadt Central and staying at the first hotel I could find, which was quite expensive but I just wanted to stop and have a shower. I book with hotels.com so things like this won't happen! I just hope I'm not going to be charged for a "no show" because I showed!
