Arrived late & checked in around 11pm. After the credit card terminal declined my card multiple times, staff informed me they were upgrading their system & had been having issues. The entire check-in process was nearly 10 minutes, which seems quite excessive considering it was only me. Woke up to someone attempting to enter my room. Had it not been for the addt’l safety latch, whoever was issued a key to the same room I was in would’ve walked right in!! I called the front desk & explained what happened. She said she would find out & get back to me ASAP. Never heard anything.

arrival day, ownership transition - NO room keys for 24+ hrs. So inconvenient. Needed maintenance to let you back into room. Saving grace - front desk clerk Efram. Always greeted me with huge smile. Very helpful & accommodating. Super personnel. Made me feel welcomed throughout the major inconvenience of NO keys upon arrival. Stayed here in March for wedding. Will not come back again nor recommend Sonesta Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley ever. Sorry...

Arrived w/transfer of new owners. for 24+ hrs NO room keys available. Had to get maintenance let me into room everytime I left it. Unable to enter from rear entrance. One saving grace, front desk person Efram - through it all always accommodating with a huge smile, warm manners & proficient at his job. He's a keeper. Five stars for Efram.

It was very nice and quiet. We were very tired when we got to the hotel. Check in was very nice the the staff was very sweet. The only thing that makes me give it one less star is that we had a bit of a walk to our room. No one’s fault and it is what it is. But when we got to our room, the deadbolt lock was engaged and the door was open. I carefully called out to see if someone was in the room and it was clear. So I thought I’d just use my card to release the deadbolt and we would go in. But it wouldn’t work. So we had to walk all the way back to the desk and being very tired it was not pleasant. The staff were apologetic and quickly gave us another room. They said it happens when maintenance goes in to fix something and forget to disengage the deadbolt. That leads me to believe it happens often which is not good. We then had to walk again to another room.

The lady at front desk was not very pleasant upon check-in. The room was uninhabitable (dirty, the heads of beds weee below foot of bed, pillows flat and only 2 per bed).. asked for better pillows on first night and never received. Asked for a room change and that one was better.
