Cozy Home With Mountain Views Near Davis Mtn State Park and McDonald Observatory

This Texas-style home is located on 5 acres on a hillside with beautiful Davis Mountain views. The location is outstanding. Just 8 min to Davis Mountain State Park, 20 min to McDonald Observatory & 15 min to downtown Ft. Davis. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, coffee pot, toaster, knives, kettle, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, oven and gas stove. There are three bedrooms in this home. One is a spacious master bedroom with a queen sized bed and a sitting room that has a gas fireplace. The other two bedrooms have double beds and are themed: "cowboy bedroom" and "Native American bedroom." All bedrooms contain premium bedding. Both bathrooms are full bathrooms and are quite nice. The guest bathroom has a tub/shower combination and the master bathroom contains a Greek soaking tub. If you need to combine work and play, no problem. There is an office and free Wi-Fi. Feel free to bring your own ether cable to plug right into the modem, if desired. The living room is furnished with red leather furniture, a coffee table, cow hide rug, gas fire place and a 55" Visio television. The dining table seats 6 people. A small bar area seats 2 additional people. The kitchen, dining and living areas are open concept. The views from every window in this house are beautiful. The porch is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy morning coffee while watching for deer or for sipping a glass of wine in the evening while star gazing. Deer often visit the property early in the morning and near dusk. Also, there is a utility room with a large size washer and dryer. You will know that you are in Texas while staying here because of all the unmistakably "Texas" furnishings and overall style. There is a carport suitable for 1 vehicle, and there is additional parking in the circle driveway. Guests staying 7 nights receive a 10% discount. Guests staying 28 nights or more receive a 20% discount. Please come visit!

Perfect Stargazing Stay Near McDonald ObservatoryThis cozy home is one of the best places to stay if you’re visiting McDonald Observatory or exploring the Davis Mountains. The location is fantastic—just a short drive to the observatory and very close to Davis Mountains State Park, making it a great base for hiking, sightseeing, and astronomy.The stargazing from the property is incredible. The Davis Mountains have some of the darkest skies in Texas, and from this house we could clearly see the constellationsand thousands of stars right from the yard. If you’re coming for McDonald Observatory star parties or telescope programs, this is an ideal place to stay because you can continue enjoying the night sky after you return.The house itself is comfortable, quiet, and perfect for a relaxing West Texas getaway. The mountain views are beautiful during the day, and the peaceful surroundings make it easy to unplug. The game room was a great bonus and gave us something fun to do in the evenings. When the temperature dropped at night, the fireplaces made the place feel especially cozy, which was perfect after being outside stargazing.Also worth mentioning—the Wi-Fi worked great, which was helpful when we needed it, but it was just as easy to disconnect and enjoy the quiet setting.If you’re looking for lodging near McDonald Observatory with amazing stargazing, comfortable amenities, and easy access to Davis Mountains State Park, this property is an excellent choice. 100% stay again!

We loved our stay at this cozy Fort Davis home. It was spotless, comfortable, and incredibly convenient—everything in town and around the area is just a short drive away. The layout is perfect for two families traveling together, since each “side” of the house has its own bedroom(s) and bathroom. It also works wonderfully for a family with kids, giving adults privacy on one side and plenty of space for children on the other.Our host was exceptional. She really anticipated potential snags and communicated them clearly—like encouraging us to arrive during daylight because it gets very dark in the area and reminding us to save the Wi-Fi password ahead of time since service drops as you get closer to the house. Those small details made our trip so much smoother.Check-in was easy, the home was thoughtfully stocked, and we felt completely taken care of. Highly recommend this property for a relaxing, convenient, and comfortable stay in Fort Davis.

This was an absolutely wonderful property, and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Everything was clean and well-organized. The view was gorgeous, and everything was set up for comfort. My son loved the games that were at the house, and we had everything we needed during our stay. I would note that the trek up the road is on an unpaved, and there are sometimes low river crossings. We did not have any issues getting to the house though. I absolutely loved the gas fireplace in the living room that you could turn on and off with a button. Wonderful owners and place.

The location was perfect for star gazing which is why we were in Ft Davis. The house was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The gravel road could be a bit of a challenge for a low to the ground car. Communications with the home owner was very good and we hope to return next year.

Clean and very comfortable. So easy to check in. Owner gave us great info on how to get to the house and even described the low water crossings with water present. They were a bit tricky and she suggested a go around that was safer. Communication was excellent. Great views. Saw wildlife.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The night skies are SO dark and the stargazing was truly breathtaking. The house was very comfortable. The beds and linens were comfy and there were plenty of towels provided. The kitchen is nicely equipped for any meal, and we used it frequently as there aren't many restaurants in the area. I loved that each morning I could have coffee on the back porch, listen to the birds, and look out onto the mountains. This is a great place to stay if you are going to Davis Mountains State Park or McDonald Observatory. We will definitely stay here again the next time we come to Fort Davis.

Great Astronomy Weekend

Father/son trip to do some astrophotography in Fort Davis’s dark skies. The house was very comfortable and the location was very dark. Communication with the owner was very smooth. I highly recommend!
