We had a family room in the separate building, which had a good separation across three floors (although the bathroom and upper floor were more like mezzanines).
The sofa was made as a bed but was on the top floor, which might be a bit strange if we didn’t have it as a bed. Sone of the (floating) stairs wobbled and creaked.
The room was clean and well presented. It was spacious enough, although I can imagine it getting a little tight for a family of four.
The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, with a sweet little play area for children, open grassy space too as well as numerous places to sit and enjoy the grounds.
The restaurant was not open so I cannot comment on that or the interior of the main building.
The location is very handy: it is an easy 15 minute walk right into the centre of Bayeux.

Don’t expect to be in a luxury chateau. Property needs work. Only positive was the young lady who handles reception and the dining area. She is super efficient. Diners are basic but were good.
Restaurant unfortunately not open. Mattress a little too hard.
Stunning setting and beautiful lake and grounds. Very convenient for walking into Bayeau which was a fabulous place with amazing buildings and history and good places to eat.
Literally just back from a 2 night stay here and stayed in a family duplex since was for 4 adults which are on a separate block to the main house.
Was a very nice stay overall, big spacious room with an additional upstairs double bed and bathroom, although just the one toilet for both floors.
Lovely quiet grounds to sit in, fairly easy 20 minute walk into the middle of Bayeux and breakfast plentiful buffet style thing.
I have an EV so perfect for me, arrived with about 40% battery and filled up for about £27 on the 22kw charger so happy days!
Staff friendly so honestly no complaints from us.
I would say breakfast is too expensive at €17 per person per night is my only observation.
We had a lovely big room in the attic of the main chateau.
Very spacious bathroom too.
Tea and Coffee facilities in room.
Dinner in restaurant was very good.
A wonderful stay.
Location, parking and staff are very good .
Room 11 was ok , good TV , comfortable bed and pillows , very clean .
Sadly the 3 nights were constant in a humming in the room 😞 , then there was a constant banging through the evening . This banging I believe is the front main door !!!!’ …: hotel take a look , you should put some noise stops on it to prevent it closing with a bang !!!
WiFi was very poor .
Very friendly staff. Room was very spacious and clean. The grounds are beautiful.

Was bit disappointed with the Chateau - was not well kept up. The front desk staff was not always there during the hours posted and was not very friendly or helpful.
Amazing shower - best ever. Sadly inconsistency with the friendliness of the staff. The guy who checked us in was brilliant, couldn’t do enough. Next day on checking out, no one about and waited 15 minutes for someone to appear despite ringing the bell. We were met by a sourly lady who wasn\t at all friendly and seemed like the job was beneath her.

Hotel was very quiet and lacked atmosphere. Nowhere to really to sit comfortably for a drink. Breakfast was supervised by a single member of staff. There was a wide choice of food but again atmosphere poor. The member of staff had obviously set up and was not around when we came down. Some tables needed cleared so we just found a seat ourselves. She then appeared and started to clear tables. She never spoke to anyone and it was a bit awkward. I think it has a lot of positives but lack of staff and atmosphere lets it down.
We enjoyed two evenings at this property. I will be honest, the negative reviews I read only after booking the room made me anxious. Our room was great and the bed was very comfortable. Close to town, but with a small herd of Charolais cows in pasture next to the property and lovely gardens, you feel as though you are far from the bustle of tourists in town.
The owners have done a really nice job with the chateau and grounds. Only negative was a curt reception desk staff member at check in.
Room was very spacious, bed firm and big bathtub, the environs bucolic, very close to everything. The breakfast was very disappointing - out of a lot of things - and we had dinner there- great dining room, lovely service but food was a real disappointment.
Great place to stay if you want a little peace and quiet. The grounds were perfect for working outside. It’s about a 15 minute pleasant walk to the main drag and Place de Quebec. I would definitely stay here again.
The Chateau de Bellefontaine is beautiful, romantic and a treat. Our "room" was actually a very large bedroom and very large bathroom. We felt like royalty. The grounds are something you read of in old novels. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The on-site restaurant provided a delicious dinner at modest prices. The location is a quick walk into Bayeux (so no worrying about parking in town). We enjoyed our brief (2 night) stay very much and would look forward to staying again.
The young women who checked us in also served dinner. She managed about 14 guests perfectly and our dinner was one of the best we’ve had in our so far two weeks.
This place is great.
This is a charming hotel experience in a great town, the atmosphere and friendliness were top-notch. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going on a trip to the Normandy area.
We stayed here for 4 days before we moved on to Paris. This place is great. Its walking distance to the train station and the town of Bayeux. Perfect starting point for Normandy and D day beaches, they have many tours leaving from town. The restaurant is very good. Beware of the burger though. Its more like a beef tartar that is seared and topped with cambenbert chhese and served as a hamburger. My daughter ordered it and she didnt like it. I ate it, it was good. But i also ate my delicious French meal. Its not a traditional burger If it was any rarer it would be mooing.. Be sure to try the local spirit called Calvados, made with local apples. The grounds of the Chateau are beautiful. All together an excellent stay.
