Hotel Gringo Perdido was a truly great place to stay during our 3-day trip to Tikal and other historical sites. The asphalted road leading to the entrance of HGP is probably the best road in the area as it was recently poured and a second pouring is scheduled soon. The HGP staff were very welcoming and informed us of the complimentary breakfast as well as the complimentary dinner. All the meals we had were delicious, well prepared and presented, and very healthy. We stayed in Suite # 1 and it was very clean, however, there was no television for late night or early morning news viewing. But we did not come this way to watch television so it was not a deal breaker. The pool, the lake, and the beautiful view of the Peten Itza Lake was breathtaking. The suite had two heavy duty hammocks which were very comfortable. The owners created this hotel with everything in mind. I would definitely recommend Hotel Gringo Perdido to be the location of your visit.
Excellent stay with high attention to detail and a staff super willing to make us feel amazing! We arrived late and they saved dinner for us!!!! Loved it and will be back for sure!!!
We loved everything about this small boutique resort hotel. Excellent food is served in the restaurant, great service from the staff. My only complaint is that Antonella the cute black kitty cat is way too trusting and follows the guests into the room --- someone is going to kidnap her and take her home (as a souvenir, hahaha).
The property has a variety of room types and prices vary enough so it's affordable for the hippies and backpackers with children, yet there are some private suites and bungalows for a more upscale experience.
The saddest part about coming here is having to leave this place!
We absolutely loved everything about this Hotel. We love quiet peaceful places and this was perfect! We will definitely go back. It is also only 30 minutes from Tikal and 30 minutes to Flores. Close to the airpoert too.
Gringo Perdido is a true slice of paradise—a perfect escape for both relaxation and adventure. Nestled amid the lush beauty of the Mayan landscape, on a serene lake, the resort is the perfect home away from home. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the meals are always fresh and delicious. The amazing staff (including the furry friends!) make this place even more special. This is a place we continue to day dream about and love to return to. Cannot recommend this place enough!
I recently stayed at this hotel and had an amazing experience. The amenities were fantastic, exceeding all my expectations. The photos online don’t do justice to how beautiful and well-maintained the property is. The food was delicious, and the bartender was exceptional, crafting some of the best drinks I’ve ever had.
One of the highlights of our stay was the thoughtful gesture of packing our breakfast to go since we had an early departure for a trip to Tikal. This level of service truly sets this hotel apart.
I would absolutely recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking for a memorable stay. A special shoutout to Lola
The Gringo Perdido will go down as one of my all-time favorite places to stay. It is in a beautiful location, has helpful/friendly staff, provides amazing food, great recreation activities, and some of the best coffee I have ever had (and it is included). I cannot say enough good things about the Gringo Perdido and cannot wait to bring more people here in the future!
El hotel es muy lindo y acogedor, lo que mas se destaca es su playa privada que permite disfrutar al 100% del lago, y la calidad de la cena.
Punto a mejorar es la hermeticidad de las cabañas que dejaba ingresar zancudos.
It was a very beautiful property. Room looked nice but was sooo hot. I checked a few times to make sure there was AC before I booked. There was one but really didn’t work. The food was ok it wasn’t great. When you choose to add the meals on when you book you don’t get to order, they have it already chosen what you will eat. I will say they do ask you at book in if you have any allergies but I would prefer to pick myself. For me the food is a big part of the experience
We stayed here for two days. Absolutely gorgeous! From the wildlife and views, to the food and relaxation. This spot was a 10/10! Would recommend to anybody!
Very peaceful relaxing getaway if you like to be by the water. Breakfast and dinner included with reservations and was delicious. Service amazing. Be careful at night the howler monkeys might alarm you while sleeping.
Hotel Gringo Perdido is an absolute gem, it is a beautiful yet small hotel right in Lake Peten built within nature. It was so serene & peaceful, absolutely silent from 9pm, and I had the most unbelievable sleeps of my life. The only downsides are that you are very remotely located far from Flores where there are restaurants & boats to take for cheap around the area are and to get there is very inconvenient, either taxi for $50 each way or colectivo/bus with locals which either shows up every 10min or every hour or so, it’s not clear which it will be. Also limited dining at the hotel, only one option for breakfast & dinner each day…a little challenging if you follow a particular diet. But despite these inconveniences I would absolutely stay here again & recommend to friends, the setting more than makes up for things. Also just keep in mind there isn’t a whole lot “to do” here besides relax.
