It was such a privilege to be able to stay in a home with direct beach access. It was about 20-30 minutes away from Parksville or Courtenay so if you need supplies, groceries, etc, try to plan ahead if you don’t want to do too much driving by bringing as much as you can for your stay so that you can focus on enjoying the stay rather than going shopping during the stay. Our check in was easy but we did find a few problems after entry, but were able to work through them with the host. We appreciated that. We paddle boarded from the property up and down the channel. It was a lot of fun going towards Mac Oysters. There are a lot of boats and activity around there. Lots of sea friends like otters and sea lions around. Lots of different types of birds like eagles, herons and I believe turkey vultures? Our family loved exploring the beach at low tide. Lots of sea creatures to see. We got really lucky with the weather so the water actually always felt warm when we were near the shore. It was amazing. On land we kept bumping into garter snakes, which of course our teenage son loved. One of them hung out in his iPad case while he played games. It was super friendly and chill. The overall experience was great and we felt like we had enough to enjoy our stay on the most part. We really enjoyed the patio and ending our nights with the fire table, overlooking the bay, roasting marshmallows with the kids, was a highlight. The space in the house was good but be careful with the stairs.
