Cute, cozy and clean!!

Very clean. Staff is friendly. Breakfast offered is only a muffin and coffee but that’s all we were looking for. But if you’re expecting an actual full breakfast, that’s not what this is! The hotel rooms are smaller than usual rooms but it was perfect and cozy and up to date. Cookies offered at checkin. Parking lot close to entry. Would stay again.

Would consider this a boutique hotel in the European style. Front desk is not always staffed, and you have to ring a button for someone to show up and let you inside at check in, which took less than 5 minutes. The room was in excellent condition, but very basic. No dresser, no chair or couch, no refrigerator or microwave. Similar to a very nice dorm room like you'd find at many European hotels. Attached Godfreys restaurant is a very nice and cozy place to eat pastries along with your coffee in front of a large fire place. Free breakfast includes muffin or pastry, and coffee...which was excellent. Excellent location in downtown Falls Church within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. Employees were all very nice.

This is a great value for a hotel if you need to go to DC. The hotel is modern, clean and in a great neighborhood. Nice linens, great shower. Complimentary water in the bedroom and coffee in the morning with fresh delicious muffins. Plus parking is for free! Great stay

Great place to stay.

A little gem in Falls Church. The rooms are simply furnished with a Shaker aesthetic. The look works - clean and contemporary. Lots of nice little touches. Nice coffee available downstairs in the morning, Saratoga water in the room. We were greeted at reception with a muffin, got coffee and a pastry at Godfrey’s downstairs. Well worth it.

Excellent experience.

We are local and had to leave our home because of a plumbing issue. The next day we were still unsure if we could go back and the management generously offered a late checkout until we knew. When we had to add a day they worked with us on the best rate. The property is very clean and comfortable. The staff is excellent. The breakfast offered of a muffin and coffee was superb. They even accommodated my picky teen and gave her something she would eat and drink since she didn’t like the muffin choices and doesn’t drink coffee. A superb experience.

Everything at the Modern House was excellent. From staff, service, cleanliness, amenities, look, and feel. When you stay here you get a more caring feel that you dont see anymore in chain hotels. You can tell this family owned business really cares about their clients. It was so pleasant I almost dont want to post this review so it can stay my hidden gem! Seriously though Meeting House and Godfrey’s deserve all my stars. Keep it up!

Not a business travel hotel

This is a poorly designed hotel, and would not recommend particularly for a mult-night stay. First, the entrance is hard to find on the side and dark, and there is no one at the front desk. You have to ring the doorbell and wait - I had to ring 3 times for someone to come. The rooms are designed for Instagram and not for practicality. There is no closet, just an open peg, and no drawers. Lighting is poor, and there is no light near the clothes bar or where you’d put your suitcase. Trying to find your clothes and get dressed in the dark is no fun. And everything else in the room is miniature whether the “desk” or the bathroom vanity/shelf.

Noisy AC/heat unit. Need more lights

Not enough lighting in the room. There was a lamp at the far corner, a wall light between the beds, the bathroom light and a tiny desk lamp. The AC/heat unit was noisy. It kept cycling on and off. I even tried keeping the fan on but it still kept cycling. I ended up turning it off completely. The attached bakery was nice and food was delicious.

My husband and I chose this hotel due to the proximity to a New Year’s Eve party and based on the pics on the website. The elevator barely had room enough for 2 people. (Not kidding) The hotel turned out to be a very small, old, renovated, boutique hotel. It’s fine for a one night stay, but we wouldn’t recommend for a long stay. Rooms are small , including the beds . We found a roach circling around the shower at 2:00 am which was a turn off . Website offers a breakfast which turned out to be a coffee and a muffin . Room did its job for the night.
