The Brandywine River Hotel was fine. It is in a prime location, right across from the Brandywine museum of art. We got a very good rate from Expedia so we thought we would try something other than the Hilton/Marriot usual thing. While everything was satisfactory, we were hoping for a little more unique experience.
The check in was easy and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had many of the expected amenities and some nice touches like an ice bucket and wine glasses. The rug was a bit tired with some small stains. There was a black out curtain but no privacy curtain which would have been nice to let light in since we were on the ground floor.
The breakfast had been rated as excellent but it was almost identical to the standard hotel chain buffet. The breakfast room was bright and clean but needed a touch more charm.
I certainly would not want to take on running a hotel myself; I'm sure it is much more difficult than it seems. This is a Hotel, not a charming Bed & breakfast. Considering the rate we got it was a good value. But a few more touches and it could be quite a wonderful experience.
